I just got into wax seals and have started with a simple J Herbin letter "D." I love the examples in this thread. I'm having a custom seal made up now. It is a caduceus flanked by my initials. The phrase at the bottom is Latin for "Physician, Heal Thyself." To me, it symbolizes the therapy/release that writing provides. I can't wait until its finished. Here is the proof.

I love this. Where did you get it done? I'm designing my own right now to represent my Paramedic certification.

I have received my wax seal!! (I will post photos when i have acces to a camera)

But I have a problem (I'm sorry I don't know how to say this very well, my english is not good enough), the wax it's visible on the other side of the paper (I use 100gr/m2 laid paper).

How can I avoid this?

regards

Are you using classic sealing wax and not a candle wax? Sealing wax hasn't left any bleed through on papers. I am assuming you mean an oily show through on the other side, or do you mean something different?

I'm using the wax stick ( candle wax) they send me with the wax seal.

The problem is that on the other side of the paper you can see the red of the wax, so it's impossible to writte on the opposite side where I put the wax.

That depends on the wax you use. The brittle type seems to color the paper. The best wax I have seen so far are the square sticks from Herbin (without wick!). It is easy to melt, flexible (survives the postal service!), sticks very well to the paper, but does not color it.

I see... This one it's flexible as well, but it have this problem (well, its not a problem at all, but it would be better that this don't happen).

It's much xpensive the herbin wax?

regards and thanks

Herbin wax is great and isn't too bad price wise. A box of 4 sticks cost about $16 here in the US. Lots of nice colors to choose from. Very happy with their product.

OK, here I am. I knew I'd wind up here after I got my first handwritten letter and it had a wax seal on it.

Need to know if the Abraxis Amber wax from Castle in the Air CAN be okay on the outside of an envelope? Or NOT okay?

I fell in love with it and bought some....

Already searching for a nice stamp or two, but noticing they are not so easy to find....much as I like some of the Dexter designs, at over $400, I gotta keep looking....!

Any pointers for buying a halfway decent seal--what does line engraved mean--I'm guessing that means a shallow cut in the stamp?

Thanks!

Well, I'm having a devil of a time being able to navigate and post and upload photos anymore.

I'll give this a last try, and see if it will work.

I received my last two Dexter Seals, the last two in a series I began a few years ago. Hopefully I can post these photos for you. My camera "skills" have declined, so please forgive the photo quality. The seals are still breathtaking and expertly made. I will always go to Dexter if I have engraving needs for seals, rings, or anything else. They are the best.

Starting with the artwork for approval (note, both seals were engraved with traditional seal engraving for use as wax seals):
