Is this ink water resistant at all? (hopefully...)

I've just received a bottle as a gift from Deb Kinney, who stubbed (beautifully) my MB149 EF.......and as the pen and ink just arrived this morning I filled the pen and absolutely love this ink!

I've scribbled on a piece of paper and immersed the paper in a glass of water for a minute and it is now drying on my blotter. Although there's a general bleeding of blue the writing is very legible. I wouldn't say it was waterproof - but it will stand getting wet to a degree.

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

When I thanked Deb for the gift, she said it was a limited give-away at one of the recent shows - here is what she said in an email >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I am glad the pen arrived and that you are pleased with the nib and the ink. It was a special color they did for the DC show as a giveaway with purchase. I had a few left over so I give it to a few special people >>>>>>>>>

so I don't know if it is for sale yet - but I love it in the 149 stub EF she did for me - a very true dark blue!

Not in the US. No one seems to know if it's coming.

I ordered it from Diamine several weeks ago and, with shipping, it still cost slightly less than if I'd ordered it from one of the US pen stores. It arrived within a week. I love it!

The relative cost depends on the value of the dollar vs the British pound, of course.

So, don't rule out ordering it directly from Diamine. HP

Diamine introduced at the recent DC Pen Show, a new test color--Midnight.

This is a true dark blue, with wonderful qualities. Great flow, no feathering or bleed-through.

I have long wished for a true dark blue, similar to the elusive ST Dupont Blue Black. I would love to see this compared to that discontinued color (hint, hint, girlieg33k--I'd send you a sample).

Here is a photo, for those of you who prefer a photograph over a scan.

I love the color. but I need a really fast drying ink. How fast does Diamine Midnight dry?

I would not call it fast drying.

I would disagree--it's been very fast drying for me in an XF nib.

I ended up buying a bottle of Diamine Midnight via the Writing Desk in the UK. It's a spectacular dark blue, really like it. I also got a bottle of R&K Scabiosa, which I couldn't locate in the US, either.

Also bought 2 bottles (one is a gift) of Midnight yesterday. This review has given me something to really look forward to! :D

QUOTE (Hennypenny @ Aug 26 2009, 10:41 AM) Note Liverpool 1's post above -- this has been added to Diamine's New Century line-up. Yea!!!

Now, does anyone know what's the difference between their Old English and New Century lines? HP

On the whole, and in my experience, the New Century line is more saturated and intense than the Old English line. Best,

David

I'm not sure about this. I have Imperial Purple, which is Old English, and yet very saturated. Then again, I found Midnight saturated - I don't know how people get the lovely shading the scan shows! I normally don't like blue ink, light or dark, but got Midnight because it looks so nice in the scan... I've tried it in a wet M and an EF but neither produced any shading to speak of.

I normally don't like blue inks, at least no blue that looks similar to the standard-blue. Everybody writes with blue ink, it's just boring.

But as I saw the scans here, I liked the colour so much that I ordered a bottle of it from Diamine - and I'm not disappointed. I feared that it might look like one of those blue-blacks which I also don't really like. But it doesn't. It's a pure dark blue without grey or black tones.
