Parker 45 Broke Cartridge Post

Shooter

Recommended Posts

So I got this nice 45 set very reasonably priced and it seems I broke off the nipple that the cartridge / converter mounts too. Does the partition that this nipple is attached to come out by chance or am I relegated to buying a junker for the feed section?

TIA

This nipple is part of the removable nib section. You unscrew it by turning the nib hood counter-clockwise. You can get a new one through Parker for about $20, although you can probably get a whole "junker" for less than that, as long as you know the nipple on that pen is ok.

Actually, the penetrator is a permanent part of the section-- there's the little alarming extention of feed on the back of the removable point that extends up inside it, but if it's broken then trying to mount a cartridge will do some serious mischief to that delicate bit. I should seek a replacement section.

Thanks for the quick response!!! Yes Ernst it is the penetrator that has broken off in the converter and it seems the extension for the feed was already broken. The funny part is the pen actually still wrote which made me think I got a sweet deal till I heard a rattling inside the barrel and notice alittle seapage around the converter. It seems the body was holding the converter just well enough to allow ink flow.

I guess these are tough pens......LOL

By section I'm assuming you mean the whole section the nib screws in along with the threads that accept the body or barrel of the pen??

Yes, and as Readymade notes, there are plenty of P45s floating loose. I noticed that the current eBay price is around $5 for a normal P45, so buy a few!
