Losing interest in pens

Rotomobees

Recommended Posts

Dear Friends,

I'm sorry for the long absence. I been down with a respiratory illness for a few weeks along with being terribly busy at work. I haven't been able to do any of the things I enjoy doing, and I'm behind in almost every aspect of the my life. It's honestly taken all my energy to do just the things I have to do (getting up, taking a shower, going to the office, showing up at meetings, etc.). But things are getting back to normal now, so I will resume sending. Sorry for the delay and for being incommunicado for the last weeks. Please understand my situation. Sometimes life interrupts our plans.

Feel better!

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Hi there

has Rotomobees mentioned if he lost messages during the change of the software?

Some had written their messages were gone.

And his postbox must had been really full.

Just wondering...

bye

I think I have caught this flu (ie. losing interest in fountain pen type of flu, that is) over the last few weeks. I still only use fountain pens; but, I started slacking off on doing a rotation as I used to do. Now, I am pretty much using the same pens (VP, Decimo, MB 146, & WM Edson) for over 2 weeks now. I used to swap out one or two of them about every 2 weeks or so.

Yes indeed, rel life often interrupts the best made plans.

Good to hear that you're now over the illness Rob and on the mend. Winters in your part of the world can be devastatingly cold so keep strong and well.

Vitamin C zinc Echinacea propolis said to boost the immune systems and respiratory ailments too. People who've stopped taking cow milk products find great improvement. healthy living, less stress and often mind over body and matter helps.

Over here we have Sukkot, Tabernacles, the festival of the ngathring and harvest, a time for joy and reassessment especilly after the high holidays of Yom Kippur, time for repentance and new beginnings, Jewish New Year which aligned and fell together with Ramadan's Id el Fit'r festival this year, hopefully a portent of better times.

Best to you and all fpn'ers worldwide.

Dov

I have no idea how you got that idea. It's just like anything. Any excess might be a problem. But there is no reason to "stop". And my nutritionist (you know, that person who has been studying specialized medicine for ten years at university) recommends me to eat or drink some milk twice a day. Popular beliefs are still strong all around the world. Some we end trusting easily ("don't cross your eyes, or you'll stay that way", for instance). Some less easily, for some reason I do not know, or maybe because we like to feel stronger than specialist.

In several aspects, this is a nice thread, so I like to bump it.

And I wish a good recovery, to all ill members here since Rotomobees is not the only one to have had health problems recently here.

Pens I use very often: Lamy Accent ("EF": fine), Lamy Accent ("1.1": medium italic), Pilot Custom ("FA": extra-fine flexible).

Rotombees was kind enough to even send me a PM indicating that my mail was lost in his inbox--it really is overflowing. I sent him another in reply, and am now praying for his full recovery. :')

It doesn't matter how long I have to wait, because he really takes the time to read and reply to each one. It just makes a pen more precious.

I hope all our members are feeling better!

Best wishes,

Lachesis

Oh, dear. xD I just read that he'd been down with a respiratory bug, but from his post he's doing better.

I was away for some time, still getting back into the FPN routine now that I'm home again. This topic is amazing. I've read every post and loved seeing the photos. What beautiful pens! While I myself am on a pen-buying sabbatical right now, this thread gives me a joy greater than receiving any pen. Rob's kindness and the joy he's spreading affirms the best in all of us. I just finished reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson, and Rob's generosity goes right along with Greg's. I am moved and inspired.

Three cups of Tea is simply an amazing book, and Greg should win the Nobel Prize. Another great book to read, which has completely altered what I want to do with my future is Tracy Kidder's biography of Paul Famer, MD, PhD: Mountains beyond Mountains. What this man has done around the world is simply amazing.

+1 for Three Cups of Tea

For global travel without an obvious service element, try Tahir Shah's books. I still love re-reading The Caliph's House.

I think it is now clear: this thread is dead. Sadly, it diminishes the value of its message.

I think this thread should be pinned. It's not dead, Rob's message lives on: I've given away about 3 parker 51s and a mb mozart and one more other pen since Rob gave me his pen. As we can see, what Rob has done has now made another 4-5 people happy.

Sorry. I had hoped that recipients of Rotomobees' generosity would tell something here, so as to make this message live. It had been two weeks without any reply... and four weeks with only two replies. It seems I was mistaken. Then, I am happy to have bumped this thread!

I'm still waiting to hear from Rob. He sent me a PM a month ago saying that he'd be in touch with me soon but I've yet to get any more contact. I hope he's over his illness.

I've never come face to face with that feeling yet. I don't have too many yet, thats probably why. I try to only buy one of each model and never buy pens that look the same.

I not only hope he's OK, but look forward to more postings in the spirit of his original posts. The pens were simply a catalyst that provided a discussion topic that spiraled out into some wonderful conversations between people on the board.
