nice review, love the color! 3 reviews in one day!

Yeah I know. I actually did them during the past few days but today I found my cameras USB cable. I always upload in bunches. I would like to add that the pen needs a finer nib so you can see the blue more.

Let me second what dannyboy said: this is my "go-to" ink. It has wonderful flow and the color is between a purple and a blue. It does behave differently in each pen. In my fine nibbed pens, the color goes towards a regal purple. In the my heavier flowing med. nibs, a near-Royal Blue. Nice review...well done.

Henry as I told you before.

I first hated this ink then loved it later.

The same happened to you I think.

Although I have yet to settle on a shade of blue I find I come back to this one again and again. The hint of purple in it makes it seem richer than most blues.

BTW I am using Pilot Blue right now. Next up: Waterman's Florida Blue.

WOW! I'm not a blue fan, but with these shots you tempt me!

One more reason to try my bottle of Aurora Blue, bought 2 months ago and still not opened.

Thank you VERY VERY MUCH for these WONDERFUL picture..I love them!

Beware... Aurora blue does not change it's color as it dries, it stays purple. Diamine Sapphire blue is a tad less saturated but still is a nicer ink.

Well I guess it would look similar to my medium...

It's actually eclat de saphir that looks bad in a thick nib... looks wishy-washy compared to DSB

That is not my experience at all. I actually prefer EdS in a Broad nib, but I love shading.

This sounds a lot like Aurora Blue. From my wet, medium Phileas nib the ink come out and dries as a bright royal blue (especially on stark white paper like Clairefontaine), more saturated but otherwise indistinguishable from Waterman Florida Blue. From my finer-nibbed Pilot Knight, however, Aurora Blue is definitely a purplish-blue.

I'm looking for the closest thing Diamine has to a "true-blue" that will look true-blue even from my Pilot Knight. The reviews and scans of Diamine WES Imperial Blue and Diamine Sapphire Blue, taken together, are confounding.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

The only true blue is Diamine Majestic Blue. WES and Sapphire are purplish.

Henry, I generally detest purple-blues, but your shots make this ink seem very appealing.

  • 3 months later...

I'd like to chime in again on this post to note:

I really like this ink. I need to get some more soon.

Yes, I have also come to like this ink a lot. I got a small bottle from Diamine just to get a better sense of their blues, and was very surprised by it.

I think I'm with dizzypen. Eclat de Saphir didn't do anything for me with a finer nib. I put it in a broad nib, and it just popped.
