Superb Mabie Todd Swan Eternal #6 – Red Mottled Hard Rubber

Recommended Posts

Offered for sale is this beautiful and scarce oversize Swan (Mabie Todd) Eternal #6 in striking red mottled hard rubber. The Eternal model was introduced around 1924 probably as a direct response to the Lifetime guarantees being offered by the likes of Sheaffer and Conklin. Eternals were manufactured both in USA and UK, this one is the USA version.

Hopefully, you can see from the photos that the pen is in outstanding condition. Fantastic colour, no oxidation, no cracks, blemishes or personalisation. The gold filled trim is near perfect (even the lever is very clean with just a speck or two of wear) and unusually for a RMHR pen; the barrel imprint is quite deep, clear and readable (see photo)

Measurements are: 5.6” capped, 5.2” uncapped, nearly 7” posted and 0.6” wide at the cap opening.

The pen has the correct original large sized Eternal #6 nib which is firm and very smooth. I would say that it was a fine/medium with medium flow. I have included a writing sample on 0.5cm squared Clairefontaine paper to demonstrate the nib width and ink flow.

This is a super example of a relatively scarce and highly collectible pen from the “Golden Age” RMHR Eternals are almost impossible to find in this condition

Eternal pens are of the highest quality and this one will not disappoint.

Priced at $550.00 SOLD

All my pens carry a full ‘no quibble’ return policy for 7 days from receipt of pen. Regular, reliable airmail shipping from the UK is included but any loss or damage is at the buyer’s risk (sorry). I therefore highly recommend recorded, tracked delivery with insurance at $13.00.

I prefer Paypal but will work with you for other payment methods.

However, cheques and money orders are accepted in Sterling (GBP) only.

UK buyers, please check www.XE.com for a converted price.

Any questions, please do ask but as always, the first firm ‘I'll take it’ e-mail secures it.

Nice to see an under rated brand being appreciated, Swan are the best of the best. Beautiful example of their quality there.
