Most beautiful pen ever produced?

Part of the problem with posting pictures is that I don't own pictures of the Chilton Clown or Wingflow. I have seen pictures of them on the internet, but posting them here may ruffle some feathers.

Full-size Aurora Optima in Marbled Burgundy + Chrome Trim.

I won't say that it is THE most beautiful pen, but certainly ONE of the most beautiful pens. I once went into a MB shop to have a look at the 146, which I agree is also another contender for most beautiful pen. While I was chatting to the sales-lady, I showed her my own Optima...and her jaw dropped in admiration.

I'm partial to the Waterman 452 and 552, though it really is a tough call with so many great-looking pens out there.

I can't believe I read all the posts and not one mention of the Waterman Edson. This pen is absolutely timeless - the translucent sapphire blue, the gold furniture, the inlaid nib, ...

I'd say the Montblanc 149 and Pilot Myu 701 should be in the top few.

 eeh?... no.

those are simple in the most positive sense and classic (a category to which Lamy 2000 also belong) yes.

but not beautiful.

i'm being completely objective here, of course ;)

I agree with many of Adam's choices: The Pelikan 100 was a timeless design. The Aurora 88 took the best of the Parker 51 and made it better; the nib design is very cool. The Wahl Doric is another very gorgeous design.

The MB 146 & 149 are, indeed, classic-looking designs; essentially they are different sizes of the same pen. However, there is nothing earth-shattering about either of them. Nonetheless, the original post asked for "beautiful," not "original," so I'm not going to disagree with someone's opinion.

The MB 146 and The Aurora Europa. It was a total impulse buy when I saw that Aurora in person.

I am a big fan of this pen and of the author of the thread (but the pen came first). :)

One day I'll have to make my own trek to Mora Stylos and plunk down for one.

+1 for the Edson (regardless of color)

Also, the Exception Night&Day Platinum is an extremely beautiful pen. I would even give that an edge over the Edson.

Yeah, I like the Night and Day, too. Actually not a big fan of the Edson - it looks kind of odd to me.

Looking at all the pen designs out there, there are plenty that are overly complicated in an attempt at beauty, but only a few have designs that can really hold their own. Try to add on too much, and you end up with those pens that always show up as the world's ugliest on this forum. I forget who makes them... it's some guy who has legs sticking out of his pens and stuff like that. I find the simple but unique designs like the 149 and 701 very beautiful. It's really impressive to have a design that doesn't wear off, and although they are simple, they're extremely distinctive and unique. You know that other manufacturers were kicking themselves over not having thought of those designs. Anyone can add on some extra ornamentation, but that's not true beauty, just tasteless bling.
