MYU - The 'he' that you moved is a 'she' :roflmho:

xxxxxx Tawanda xxxxxxxx

Ah, sorry about that. I should have known... "Towanda" was the nickname that Bates' character adopted, which is very close. I think I had "Nuanda" on my mind, which was the nickname Charles Dalton chose in "Dead Poets Society". ;)

I've just read the reviews from the last couple of days and am very impressed that your reviews are so ambitious. The CdA review was very helpful, btw, since I've been considering it for a while.

Fascinating. I never knew that Esterbrook once collaborated with Conway Stewart. I wonder how many models they produced together?

You really have to get out more (or at least visit more forums!). I didn't know before I was given the pen either, but there's a guy called Brian Anderson who seems to be the font of all Esterbrook knowledge on the Estie Forum. His page on the relief pens is HERE.

So many pens... so little time. ;)

Get out more? Kind of ironic, given my current avatar ( ). Yes I'd have to admit, I am guilty of still not knowing much about a number of pen brands. Esterbrook is one of them. Thanks for the link. Now I'm seeing a whole other type of pen that I'd like to own someday: An Esterbrook Relief in marbled/swirled pattern! :o

...I follow this eagerly every day and the latest review of Pelikan M250 - the tribute to a companion - is the best so far. Heartwarming and very well written. I'm impressed that every review is so ambitious, by the way.

Thanks Dandelion. I wouldn't call them ambitious reviews, but being an avid reader of other people's, I wanted to either compliment other reviews with my own info or experiences (Lamy 2K, Pelikan M250), or state a different opinion to a review I felt was incomplete (C d'A Ecridor). It's also useful to pick up your pens with a reviewer's hand; I desperately want to like every pen I buy, but the reality of using them can be very different to the expectation and reviewing them brings this into stark relief!

SoapyTwist, have you ever owned a Montblanc Noblesse? I'm wondering how it compares to the Titano, as they look very similar. Titano has nicer furniture, IMHO.

My wife has one; she likes pens too and they have proven to be very useful get-out-of-jail-free cards over the years at birthday and anniversary time!

I'll see if I can borrow it (as soon as I ask to do this she thinks I'm trying to sell it out from under her!!) - from memory the nib has a far more old-fashioned looking curved cross section than the Titano/SL nib, and the clip is broader and flatter. I'll take photos later.

Actually here's a photo of the 87 catalogue to illustrate:

The Noblesse actually started out looking simialr to what the Titano became HERE

Poor Sheaffer . You were so hard on it! Around 85% of the pens I own are Sheaffers. I love the way they look. I think their designs are classic. As for the nibs, maybe the one you have needs adjusting. They are stiff as nails but they glad so well across the page.

Ahh - be careful what you wish for!!

The nibs do glide well (the Triumph ones less so than the inlaid ones) - this one did without adjustment, although the previous owner had left the sweetspot in an angled position on the point so I wasn't writing with it in Position A. It's just that if I wanted the experience of writing with a rollerball, I'd get a rollerball. I prefer my pens to write in a more expressive way. I have a Montblanc 32 that has a firm nib similar to the Triumph; it is even upturned slightly at the tip in the same way, but it lays down ink in a totally different style much more to my liking.

I have no idea what you mean by "writing like a rollerball." I use Sheaffer's and Rollerballs all the time. The writing experience is wholly different.

Anyway, God forbid you have something in your collection/accumulation that pains you so! Feel free to pop it in the mail to me. I'll give it a good home...

Normal service will be resumed shortly - went out last night to see my nephew on stage, and wound up signing up to be in my old Musical Society's next show. Suffice to say I had no time to do my review, so I'm going to put it up later today with the following one shortly after.

I really enjoyed the 146 review - very entertaining and well written. Once again - this is such a clever idea!
