Congratulations Ms. Haruka. Pen & Message recently restocked all the inks. Mine are still at the store which I will hopefully pick up personally next month. Do you also live in Japan? Or a friend perhaps since it's difficult to get these bottles economically in such small quantities.

 

Also, if I may ask, what is #900?

Hi Mew! Hope you're enjoying the FPN forums.

 

Pen and Message only received enough ink for those that reserved bottles, so all inks are still listed as "out of stock" to the bane of those who did not reserve.

I have a friend, a cousin and Atsu (as many do) to forward me the inks. I don't like hounding friends and relatives for favors, so I try to alternate who forwards my inks--this is where Atsu comes in. He's more expensive when it comes to forwarding the items, but I don't want friends or family thinking I'm only touching base with them for ink.

#900 is in reference to my 900th post.

So lucky! Are you going to Japan on business? To visit family? What inks did you buy? XD

I don't post much, but I try to read most of the things. Oh, okay. I did not check the regular order page for individual inks. He did say that only people who have reserved are getting the inks and the reservation system will now be discontinued.

I live in Japan. I have a house in Kyoto but most of the times I am traveling outside Japan, so I am able to stay in Japan for only a week every month. My January visit to Japan is done, and February is reserved for Tokyo since I want to collect my Namiki Emperor from Tokyo Shop. I cannot receive physical delivery of items since I am not at home most of the time, so I collect them personally when I am visiting the respective cities for work etc. So it's still business related but I also live there.

Pen & Message has told me to collect the inks as soon as possible since they do not have enough space to keep my inks for too long. So emperor might have to delayed to March and inks shifted to February.

Atsu charges $20 per bottle (shipping included) on top of the price of the ink, but that's reasonable for a forwarding service in Japan to the USA. That's and he's a swell, honest guy.

 

My goodness! You bought the whole line of Pen and Message as well as Writing Lab! Do let me know what you think of Old Burgandy, I've been thinking about buying it, but am a little unsure.

haruka337 - do buy Old Burgundy. It's a classic Sailor dark red, with a definite brownish tone. Lovely greenish sheen. A close cousin to Sweet Potato Purple.

Sure.

 

I think it will be okay if you ask them once in a while. Like once every 6 months. I think they wouldn't mind that. I really don't know how Japan post handles the parcels since I don't buy too many pens & inks from outside of Japan, so packing may be an issue for non-professionals.

I don't have too many non-japanese pens & inks. Whatever I buy is collected personally so no scope of receiving shipments. I do have Akkerman inks which I picked up from Amsterdam in 2014, around 10 bottles.

 

Yes, Yoshimune (the owner of the pen & message shop) knows me and recommended me 5 of the inks. I decided to take the other 3 as well to make the trip to the shop more worthwhile. It's a small shop, but very nice nonetheless.

 

Reservation system causes problems to everyone as people from overseas book the inks in large amounts and we don't get much. I may be not liked for this, but I think it's good that's most japanese shops do not ship outside Japan. If they would have, we would have faced severe ink shortage considering what I see here.

 

I don't like grey inks too much, but I am sure I can find some use for it. It seems rather nice for a grey.

I have a bottle of Edelstein Topaz and Pelikan Royal Blue inbound from Goulet's. The Royal Blue mixes with the Brilliant Black at a 6:1 ratio to make a very pleasant blue-black.
