What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

Karen Doherty is our favorite enabler. VP of Marketing for the J. Herbin inks, in addition to Quo Vadis, Clairefontaine, Exacompta, and other goodies, she periodically gifts some of us who write reviews with samples of their products. It's a sign of the quality of the ink that she knows one bottle is usually enough to hook users.

We love her dearly and she's even nicer in person than she is on line. More companies need Karens.

Noodler's Old Manhattan Black

Aurora Black

Noodler's Purple

Noodler's Black

Swisher/Noodler's Polar Blue

Swisher/Noodler's Emerald

I was INTENDING to buy just the OMB, but ink always seems to jump into my cart when I'm not looking. And I'm really bummed that everyone was out of MB Violet. I really wanna try that funky bottle of theirs.

Perhaps we could list the inks and the source of them as this would create increased awareness of where to buy and who has what and also helps these businesses during these trying economic times.

Right now, I'm waiting on Chesterfield Siam and Garnet. Both appear to be interesting reds.

Ordered them from Xfountainpens.com.

So far, I've bought Sodalite, Night Sapphire, Cobalt, and Rose and, with the exception of Rose, I've really enjoyed all of them. My problem with Rose is that it's a screamin' in-your-face MAGENTA. Might be good for mixing, though... These ink are (as we know) repackaged Diamine and I must say that, except for the Rose, I really enjoy the colors.

I call them 'comfortable' colors. Nothing shouts at you, but I don't consider them blah, either.

When I have some time, I'd like to get some reviews posted.

Anybody want to swap a new bottle of Rose (50 ml) for another 50ml of something else (maybe in the blue-black family)?

Ordered another bottle of Diamine Sapphire and three boxes of Diamine cartridges (Sapphire, Royal Blue, and Imperial Blue) back on July 18 from the Diamine website. So far, no inks. Wondering if anyone else in the US has noticed a longer than usual delivery time from Diamine. My last order took twelve days, including weekends.

I am waiting for Chesterfield Smoked Topaz and Sodalite from Xfountainpens.

Both look like interesting colors.

One box of Sailor Kiwaguro cartridges to go into the accompanying inexpensive Sailor recycled-plastic desk pen (and I hope it fits into the accompanying inexpensive Platinum brand desk pen holder!), and one 3-ounce bottle of Noodler's Polar Blue to try in other pens. This is my first order from Jetpens.

Noodler's Purple Wampum. Just came today. Although the black washes off, the magenta stays in a water resistant way.

  • 2 weeks later...

J. Herbin inks, namely:

Lierre Sauvage

Orange Indien

Placed an order from Caligula for:

Rouge d'la/le Opera

The cafe-brown ink I can never remember to write. ;(

Considered getting PR Chocolat, but wanted something that reminded me of coffee (I don't drink the stuff, but the smell alone keeps me awake.)

Looking forward to using a "Vanilla Black" ink. xD sometime in the future, not now.

Noodler's V-Mail Burma Brown and Midway Blue.

If I find that the Midway Blue isn't dark enough, I may have get a bottle of North African Violet to mix. And, of course, a bottle of Rabaul Red, partly because it is where my wife grew up, and partly because it used to be one of the most beautiful towns in the Pacific.

I just received four bottles of Diamine. The 30 ml. I wanted to try:

Majestic Blue

Imperial Blue

Emerald Green

Umber Green.

Emerald green is fab.

Majestic blue is even better than i thought.

Will have to wait for the other two.

They did send me a box of 18 cartridges free and the postage over £10 is free too. Good deal I believe. :)

I have 3 bottles of Diamine on the way: Steel Blue, Jet Black, and Poppy Red. Diamine said they were including a special gift with my order. I understand this means an assortment of ink cartridges. :)

Big order (for me) placed with Swisher today:

Visconti Blue (6 V bottles)

Lexington Grey

Operation Overlord Orange

Sherwood Green (2 bottles)

I don't recall ever ordering 10 bottles of ink at one crack, but it's hard to pass up Visconti Blue at 6 bucks a bottle.
