What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

The more uses the better, I say. And now you've got me wondering if I should mess around with a bottle of my own...

It so is! And I agree completely. I always find myself gravitating to unusual inks, ones you couldn't easily mix yourself. What got you into the fountain pen hobby?

Gosh, I'm trying to think what it was exactly. I think I somehow found myself watching a lot of videos and reading a lot of articles and I suppose I was just bitten by the bug. I saw several breathtaking pens and thought to myself: "I have to have some of my own. How don't I have any?!" I have to say the inks may have really had a part in it as well, the idea of mixing my own or fiddling around or even using them for artsy purposes besides writing gets me excited too (not that I am an artist in any capacity, but I like to toy around).

Do you remember what it was for you?

I'm waiting 13 bottles of Namiki Iroshizuku (several blues, all green, some purples) since last december and seems like is taking forever to arrive... :(

The range of inks available is a large part of my excitement about the hobby too. I imagine you don't find many quality pink ballpoints either! (I have two pink Inkjoys but they're rubbish for anything other than marking.) They're so fun to mess with if I have the time, but they can also be convenient, in the case of c/c pens. That versatility is a big draw. Somewhat related, my Toucan inks came in today and somehow the first thing I ended up mixing was a hideous brown. Oops. (I was trying to darken the orange.)

Like you I suppose I fell into it... I've spent maybe hundreds on disposable rollerballs and gel pens over the years, and fountain pens were naturally the next step forward. I bought a Pilot Metropolitan and fell in love. At the time I thought it'd be cheaper too in the long run. ...Not a chance.

I feel like we've taken over the thread... how about we move to private messaging?

None! Because yesterday my full set (8 bottles) of the Diamine 150th Anniversary inks arrived as well as J. Herbin Stormy Grey. It's Friday night and I'm looking forward to a weekend of playing with colour.

Some of my inks just arrived. Still got 5 at some customs office agent's desk...

I'm in love with Iroshizuku's box, bottles, labels, ink everything.

Noodler's Heart of Darkness. The big 'un, 4.5 oz. You can never have too much black ink.

Just got this one with the free pen- BOTH are outstanding!

I'm waiting for Noodler's Lexington Gray- also with free pen.

The pen has the same funky smell as the Ahab - to a degree - the barrel is plain/clear, but the cap is very very nice- like a woodgrain, with a rainbow of colors.

I'm waiting for several Iroshizuku Mini bottles (15ml).

I got sets of three, of all of the ones that were available in various colors

TY/TAK/KO: Tsuki-yo, Take-sumi, Kon-peki

AS/SNK/YB: Asa-gao, Shin-kai, Yama-budo

AMA/FG/SY: Ama-iro, Fuyu-gaki, Syo-ro

I'm really excited to try out Kon-Peki, Asa-gao, Yama-budo, and Fuyu-gaki.

The rest of them would be a pleasant surprise if they turn out to my liking.

It's still on its way.

Ok, The Lexington Gray just came in ... this time the free pen is a clear demonstrator! Pretty neat, seeing the ink flow through the feed. Anyway.

The gray is pretty nice ... with that fine point, looks a lot like strong pencil writing. Gray is a color - for when you don't want a color. Creative yet serious.

Must try it in a wider point ... but the pen was a nice plus.

Liked JH Poussiere de Lune well enough that I ordered a bottle - love the grayed tones  I'm also awaiting a bottle of . . . Baystate Blue! Yep, I've gone over to the dark side. Oh - and Sheaffer pink cartridges; going to do a little pink comparison. I love me some pink ink, too!

Noodler's Baystate Blue. That's right; Baystate Blue.

1. It comes with a free pen. It can have it's own dedicated cheap pen.

2. Anything this controversial is worth having. I don't own any $$$$ pens, anyways. I might put it in a $3 Jinhao.

3. Even it's many detractors admit the color is amazing. "Dam_ing with faint praise," eh.

I LIKE Heart of Darkness and Lexington Gray. Must see BSB for myself.

Ah. The Baystate Blue came.

It is indeed a rich, amazing blue. Some purple tones, but bright, bright. Reminds me of old ballpoints, but more vibrant.

The free pen is another Preppy demonstrator. I find the Preppy a scratchy writer, but the demonstrator thing is always cool. Maybe it will become smoother with time.

"Heart of Darkness" came with a better Noodler's-marked pen. "Lexington Gray" came with this same Preppy.

The BSB bottle says to never mix this color with others, even Noodler's other inks. Not anticipating trouble as long as this is done.

I am not waiting for anything - but only because of the winter. Can't have the inks freezing on the way, can I ;) I did pick up a bottle of Mont Blanc's Midnight Blue recently, though (the new formulation). Love this particular shade of blue-black.

Noodlers Red-Black, or Black-Red, can't remember which.I was looking for a really good black with a color sheen..either red, purple, or green..I have a feeling this one's gonna be more red than I really want, but.....it's another ink.

Lamy Orange Copper cartridges. I hope this ink is nice and not too pale. And of course I have ordered the matching Al Star pen. I expect it to arrive tomorrow.

I'm waiting on Noodler's Cactus Fruit. I'm not sure what to expect as the pictures I have seen of it can look radically different. I'm hoping it's not too pink. But I've been waiting on it for ages now, so much so that I think it might have got lost in transit
