What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

My remaining Iroshizukus arrived, I now have nearly a full set. DHL from Japan is remarkably quick!

Now enough ink for a while, I need to reorganise the ink cabinet and now my extra storage boxes have arrived I can get on with it. I just need to time it for when the kittens are asleep...

I like some of the Iroshizuku colors, but not all of them.  I tried Kosumosu early on -- but never got the lovely shading that other people had posted photos of :( (for me, it looked more like over-ripe pink grapefruit, especially under incandescent light).  And tried a sample of Asa-gao because a lot of people here said it was their go-to blue ink; but I literally would watch big blobs of ink roll down the nib of the pen I tried it in and go SPLAT on the page....  And I don't remember why, but in my notes I have Fuyu-gaki crossed off as well.

OTOH, I have backup bottles of Yama-budo, Yama-guri, Take-sumi, and Kon-peki -- and IIRC TWO backup bottles of Tsuyu-kusa before it was discontinued while I still had a chance to get it.

Fuyu-gaki I have inked now, and it is rather LOUD. Not unpleasant, but not my favourite shade of orange - it has a rather pink tint which isn't my favourite. It's excellently behaved of course, so I can see using it as a contrast colour against more subtle choices! I've not put Kosumosu or Asa-gao in pens yet, I just swatched with a glass dip. I suspect Kosumosu might shade in my broad nibs on Rhodia but it's on the list to ink up before the end of the year. I'm especially liking the green/blues they have, I'm tempted to use all of them one week so I can decide which is a favourite!

Have not tried that one, but I tend to not like orange inks -- or orange pens -- in general.  I have a couple that I can stomach -- Diamine Terracotta really is the color of terracotta (and more of a brownish orange);  and KWZI IG Mandarin (which oxidizes more brown).

I got Diamine x Cult Pens Deadly Nightshade for my birthday, almost entirely because it has SKULLS in the bottle.

It's also a nice shade of purple with pink and green shimmer, but the shim seems a little shy in a broad dip pen. Lovely purple though. And did I mention the skulls?

Two bottles of ink arrived today. A new bottle of Waterman Serenity Blue to replace the one I just emptied and one of Mysterious Blue. (new for me, hadn't even sampled before) I like the former (today's arrival is #3) and I wanted something in a different color that would play nice in some of my non Esterbrook vintage sac pens.

I didn't think about it as a Fountain Pen Day purchase, but I guess it worked out that way.

I’m waiting for the Colorverse 2024 FPD ink, and a sample of Diamine Silver Fox, which I am out of. I need to place a big Diamine order sometime soon.

I loved inking the Waterman Serenity Blue Ink in 1941 Parker "51," which was also Richard Bindner's favorite blue ink at one time.  Before that, I liked the discontinued Parker Penman Sapphire Blue Ink.  Now that I only write with a Montblanc 149 Calligraphy Flex Nib Special Edition,  I use Montblanc Permanent Blue Ink mostly.

I'd like to really emphasize something for anyone who maybe have read midnight's comments quickly. Deadly Nightshade doesn't just have skulls depicted on the label. It has skulls IN the bottle to help agitate the shimmer! Color me intrigued!

Happy belated birthday, @midnightblues 🎂 When might we see some writing samples of your nifty new ink?

Ordered from Anderson Pens to help them get rid of their inventory:

Samples:

  • Aurora Blue Black
  • Cross Blue/Black
  • Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-peki
  • Pilot Iroshizuku Take-sumi (got the two Pilots just because they're so popular, I figured I should review them)
  • Sheaffer Skrip Brown
  • Sheaffer Skrip Red (repeat, didn't figure I needed a whole bottle :D )

Bottles:

  • Monteverde Moonstone
  • Sheaffer Skrip Green

I have to ask. What/Who donated the aforementioned “skulls” for this ink, AND will they hinder the capillary action of the ink?

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.
