I have changed my mind. :yikes:

Once I said the Golden Age of fountain pens died @ 1970. I was wrong. It was the Golden Age of Nibs.

Between this, blue, green, red and so on posts I've seen way too many beautiful modern pens.

I just bought a lot of Parker cartridges spanning the last 4 decades of the last century in various blues and blacks. I always have at least one Parker cartridge pen in the rotation, so they’ll come in handy. There’s a few Penman ones in there, I hope at least one of my newer pens likes them.

Hmmm, almost everything on Amazon.com.au sold by Amazon Japan jumped in price by up to 10% in the past 24 hours. Fluctuations in the exchange rate? That couldn't be so drastic!

Congrats on the Parker Cartridges... 👍😀 How was the evaporation in the Penman Cartridges?  I have some somewhere, and if I remember correctly they were about 1/3 evaporated.  The good news is that they're easily re-hydrated with tap water.  I had a Mocha cartridge in my Parker 45 that was missing for years.  When I finally found it, the cartridge was completely dried out.  I re-hydreated it with tap water and it's been working fine ever since.  I know you're supposed to use distilled water but I've never had any problem with fluoridated NY water.😁

They’re in the mail still, so I haven’t seen them yet.  Parker cartridges are usually well behaved enough when rehydrated, but I haven’t tried any of the Penman inks since they debuted, because it used to clog my Duofold.  I mostly bought them because I paid 34 cents per cartridge. I wonder what characteristics of each ink the Iroful paper will show?

The Penman cartridges should be a lot of fun to play with. 👍

The Iroful paper will probably show the full extent of shading and sheening of the Penman inks.

I've heard about Penman inks clogging pens, but that has not been my experience.   I used a lot of Penman Mocha over the years and never had it clog a pen. I didn't care for the Sapphire everyone loves, and didn't use much Ruby or Emerald.  In fact I never used the Emerald at all and the bottle dried out in the back of my ink drawer.

My Duofold Centennial is my most beloved, yet most problematic pen. It hates most inks besides Turquoise, Washable and Permanent Blue Quink. I was excited to try the Penman Sapphire and Emerald when they were new, but they fell real flat with that one. It did ok in the other Parkers, but I didn’t buy any more after that first run. Do you still have the bottles? I would love to see what happens if you add water to those.

I have one cart of the Mocha. I did chase a bottle of the Emerald down and it's a very pretty green. I really liked it. I also love the photo of the dried ink.

I bought some of the Iroful paper for our Pelikan hub, but I haven't tried it yet. I planned on cutting the A4 paper in half, but we have so many registered that I won't be able to play with it until after the hub-if there is any left.

Sapphire and Ebony is what I saw in the picture.  I think that’s it because the lot was described as 58 blue and black Parker cartridges.

I’ll bring some Iroful and other fun paper to the next in person pen club meeting. Oh, I meant to ask you to take a look at USG’s Ink test thread to see if you knew of any other inks that have that outline effect.

My brain is saying Sailor's Onago Iro Days, Honey/Hachimitsu has a silver outline but it's faint/subtle and very paper dependent.

Robert Oster Sea Blue. Should arrive at the beginning of next week.

From what I have seen in the pictures, the shading looks really nice. Let's see if it lives up to my expectations.

Along with a pen, I ordered Fahrney’s Ever-Write ink in Huckleberry Purple. Mark Twain was born in my state, and that ink has been on my radar. Since I decided to order their Cherry Blossom fountain pen made by Retro 51, getting the ink made sense.

I am so gobsmacked.

Back when i was a 'noobie' all things  MB, but the bottles themselves were well hated by most posters here.

Being so new I believed.

I went down to my B&M to buy a MB ink bottle....and throw away the ink.

Having an MX-5 in metal flake Racing Green, had a bottle of that most hated ink (Racing green) in the world in my hand.

I didn't understand murkey nor shading...being new.

In I was going to throw it away, I decided to try the brown. How was I to know sepia wasn't brown...looked sort of brownish to me.

By the time I wised up my B&M no longer had any Racing Green. The then 50ml ink bottle shoe cost 12 euro and €15 in internet was way too much for such a hated ink.....I was at that time dithering any time I found a pen over €20 on Ebay. Back when I belonged to The Pen of the Week in the Mail Club.

I did pay €19 plus postage for a second bottle of Sepia than I am still using.

The basement alchemists on this com never did get a match...as far as I know.

Perhaps and hopefully I'm out of date and the Holy Grail of Inks has been found.

Sailor 13-1008-215 Othus, or Osmanus (Orange Base), or Kin- mokusei. I can’t tell what the actual name is but it’s a pretty orange ink from the Shikiori line. I want to see if I get the same outline that @USG gets, although I still don’t have the same paper.
