We are living in the Golden Age of Inks........thousands of hues and shades....an ink for every mood or paper and nib combo.....

I do have 5 BB's......but at least 5 of every basic color....I do have 20 green or greenish inks.

I was chasing purple, when i ran into the now discontinued 4001 on sale for €1.00...after all who needs green.

It was a lively green0green that shaded!!:yikes:..with in the next year I bought 14 green-greenish inks...now have 20.

Your 350 ml of BB ink will last a while....but will run out. I had two 110ml bottles of ESSR a grand BB ink....and my god they are gone and couldn't be a decade or so ago.....and I don't even use BB...or not much, as all other colors..................................so, the main advice I can give you is to buy  a ream or a 100 sheet box of good to better papers with every three inks you buy ...now that you just bought 7 bottles of ink....make that two paper packs.

Do look up which paper does best with BB.

I managed to get about 10 reams worth of the old Tomoe River paper before it was fully discontinued - excited to get some writing in on that.

just purchased a Pilot Custom 743 second hand as well to go along with my journey of using up the entire 350ml - both should be here early this upcoming week

Now that's a 'life time' supply, or the next thing to it.:notworthy1:

Now I just need to figure out a writing desk setup so I can get to work on getting all of the ink on paper, where it belongs.

Just got the tracking # for a parcel coming from Cult Pens.  Several bottles of Robert Oster inks: Astorquiza Rot, Bishop to King, Sydney Lavender, and their excllusive Cult Blue; plus bottles of Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black, J Herbin 1670 Shogun, and an old favorite I can't get in the US anymore: Quink Permanent Blue.

Plus a pen that caught my eye which I somehow overlooked when it was first released: Lamy al-Star Gold SE (black clip and nib), and a converter for it.

I've got a bottle of Private Reserve Avocado shipping from Purepens, and a 30ml bottle of Herbin Poussiere de Lune I got locally, plus a mistery package I got for birthday from an american pen friend! Will probably suffer to decide which pen will take which ink

I actually need to buy(and wait for) cartridges. I only usually have one pen I use with cartridges, a Sailor that I reserve for Sailor Jentle Black.

I'm finally buying the bottle of 3 Oysters Doldam that I wanted when I was looking for a grey ink a year ago. It's almost a taupe, just a little more brown than Iroshizuki Fuyu Syogun, which I think is more of an honest to god grey. Anyway, I finally made a choice.  It's coming from Anderson Pens with a Retro 51 I'm buying as a gift.

What I really need help with is finding a match for Blackstone Golden Wattle. https://blog.andersonpens.com/thinkthursday-blackstone-golden-wattle/

There might be a discussion on that ink here somewhere in here. I'll try to look for it. I got a sample at last year's Pelikan Hub from a collector. I realize the blog says Noodler's is a close match, but I don't think so. Wattle is more orange. Can someone help?

  • 2 weeks later...

I noticed I'd already used more than half my bottle of Lux Grey so I ordered another from a random ebay seller. I've tried it in several pens to good effect but it's found a permanent home in my recently acquired  M400 White Tortoise.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I had never heard of Van Diemans inks before but in a pen friend letter some of Van Diemans inks were used and I liked the look of them.

So, off I went and hunted them down and have just ordered a bottle of Ghost Ship and a bottle of Kay Coffee!

This was an in person buy, very impulsive stop at the art supply shop on the way home from running errands. I found Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz, Lamy Vibrant Pink, and Ferris Wheel Press Goose Poupon.  Off to swatch and dip!

I told my B&M to order me some Herbin inks...I'd rather he, someone I know, get my couple euro's than, save them....

My B&M does have the MB Drool Corner...got to save that.

Since Corona he's not been doing well as a four generation shop.  I know his mother having sat right next to her, at a couple auctions with her. My wife knew the father, from when the shop was 'toys are somebody' before Toys are US knocked that portion of the shop then, out.

For over a decade, I've been saying soon, at buying Herbin's Indian Orange.

Lie de Thee is my favorite ink.

Cafe Des Iles...I don't remember if I had it or not.

Terre de Fue, I've not had.

I had gone down to the B&M order those inks, in I knew he didn't carry that brand....and ended up buying the new pastel blue Pelikan 200............got to have a B&M to do wild and woolly things.:happyberet:

I think I’ve tried all the J Herbin inks you mentioned.  I like Orange Indien and  Terre De Fue best of the four.

Sailor Yurameku Amamoyoi. I needed a third item within a limited selection of products to trigger a particular discount for the entire order (earlier in the week).

Those are the two I've not tired.

That B&M has not recovered from Covid. Garages are cheaper than down town shops.

I sat next to his mother at a couple live Auctions and like him and his wife.........the shop has been in the family from the 1870's.
