What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

If you wanta see something, go to Anderson Pens' Ink Comparison Tool, & put in KWZ's Azure #1 thru #5 in the 5 spots available. & swap 'em around a bit & see how they compare side-by-side. To me, they got it right with #5, tho #2's a close 2nd.  Also love the teal-ish undertones of #4 - hard choice there.  Don't care for the over blurpleization in ONE of the other....oh which one, which one... which one do I go for? Hmmmmmmmmmm...

OK, I caved, dammit. The easiest way to avoid the angst - got all 3.

I am waiting for a bottle of Iroshizuku Yama-Guri.  I am currently using Iroshizuku Tsukushi and I wanted another great brown ink to rotate.  Iroshizuku works great in my Pilots and Sailor, and is a perfect match for my Lamy 2000 EF and F pens.  Hopefully the new ink will behave as well as the Tsukushi.

Pen(s) in Rotation:

Majohn A2 (Fine) - Montblanc Irish Green

Parker "51" Aerometric (Broad, England) - Waterman Black

Lamy 2000 Ballpoint - Lamy Black Medium Refill

Well, I caved the other night.  I was ordering a couple of Parker twist converters and was adding some stuff to the cart to qualify for free shipping from Vanness -- but was trying to not spend TOO much money above that threshold.  So I've got a bottle of Diamine Blue Edition Gingerbread (as much as anything for the really cool bottle), a bottle of Robert Oster New York Pen Show 2022 (they were sold out of sample vials), and a sample of Van Dieman Pepperberry rounding out the order.  Then, last night, after buying a pen on eBay, and then having to find someplace that carried the right converters for *it*, I almost bought a bunch more samples and a bottle of the the MB Jimi Hendrix ink, only to realize that those could all wait till I get through a bunch of stuff I have but have never even tried....

A lot of other samples kept getting added and removed from the cart in the process for BOTH the order from Vanness and the order from Pen Boutique....

Yama-guri is probably my favorite ink. Markedly darker than Tsukushi, and equally well-behaved. A lovely rich dark brown, almost black if you put it on heavily.

Note also that Tsukushi has already been discontinued, and when I talked to someone from Pilot, they told me both Tsukushi and Ina-ho (also discontinued) are already sold out. So if you really like Tsukushi, and you see a bottle available, I would buy it.

Have you tried Aurora sepia?

I received (finally) my Penonote #4 Letters from Fukishima No.4 Turezurenoiro. The first picture I saw of this ink looked like a pile of pheasant feathers atop a blue ink. It is a blue but irl its more of a grey leaning blue. The copper sheen (that reminded me of the feathers) is really minimal. So I was/am sad.

I have not. Is it a good substitute for Tsukushi?

What I am now looking for is a substitute for Ina-ho. I have a number of medium browns. What I don’t have (outside of Ina-ho) is a good, bright, readable yellow/gold-leaning light brown (some say also shades of green).

Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-ho, of which I made sure I snapped up a couple of bottles to keep in reserve while I could still get them at discounted retail, and Platinum Classic Ink Citrus Black are my go-to ‘gold’ inks. There are probably other inks I could use, but they tend to lack water resistance.

This is the one I slapped myself for not getting while I could still buy them relatively easily from Japan:

Check out KWZ's Old Gold perhaps?

No, not a good substitute, but its a lovely brown with good flow. This is my personal replacement for Tsukushi.  Tsukushi is an amazing ink, which has lovely green sheen on certain papers. I do not think there is a good substitute.

This might have been discussed before but appearance-wise, I think Pelikan Smokey Quartz is as near identical as you're gonna get.
Though not quite as 'rich', Diamine Espresso comes in a close 2nd. You also might like Robert Oster Golden Brown.

waiting for a bottle each of  Sailor Seiboku and Platinum Carbon Black. My first pigment inks :)

Now I need to be careful on the inks remaining in the pen as that would be disastrous  with these two.

Awaiting Vanness' Sweet Tater Pie and Cranberry Sauce.  Both limited edition, the latter is already sold out.

Oh, Cranberry Sauce looks nice.  Too bad it's sold out.  Of course I didn't see it when I was putting in my order the other day, which came yesterday evening.  I've got Robert Oster NYC Pen Show 2022 in the new Sheaffer Star Wars BB-8 pen, which came Friday.  Nice color but NOT what *I* would call "sky blue" -- especially having lived nearly half my life within a 50 mile radius of Manhattan....  The ink is more of a bright turquoise (and only a little green leaning) with lots of shading.
