I have similar 3D-printed ink holders.  If you have a 3D printer I'd be happy to send you the calibrations - it's taken a few iterations to get the sizes just right.

I don’t have a 3D printer. Thank you for the offer. I looked at them before posting to see the prices.  Do you print things often?

We go through stages.  When we find something that works, we often will print multiples(e.g. orchid pots, ink sample holders...).  Our printer is fairly small, so we can't do anything very big if it cannot be assembled in parts.  Then we will ignore it until a project comes up for which the printer would be useful.

I printed Klein bottles in various sizes... that was pretty neat!

We printed a nozzle attachment for our vacuum cleaner when ours went missing; it works well!

I wouldn't say the things we print are the most polished things in the world, but the more expensive printers can do higher-quality items.  Our printer uses PLA and sometimes you can see the seams.

Nice variety of ink samples @Horseflesh  It takes time to figure out what you want from inks. There is saturated, shading, shimmering, sheening and outlining.

I’ve learned I like shading and outlining (or halo-ing).

Here is a link to see what halo-ing inks look like.  By the way, some of the ones you bought can be halo-ing inks, especially on paper like Tomoe River paper.

I can't take credit for the term, though -- I don't know who coined it, but ran across it in some thread a number of years ago.

That sounds seriously wicked cool!  But you should know the drill around here -- pix or it didn't happen!

My husband had a low-end 3D printer, but he lent/gave it to some friends because their oldest kid was learning how to use one in some class he was taking in high school.  The problem with the one we had was that it was very slow.  Plus, my husband had trouble with the geometry sometimes -- especially for things that were curved; of course I was going, "Seriously?  You have a degree in Applied Mathematics from CARNEGIE MELLON?  And you can't plot the geometry for this thing?" :headsmack:

Doesn't make 'em any less cool, tho. 😎

Wondering -- is the one that's duct taped, actually 2 'L'-shaped ones taped back-to-back, or 1 solid piece? I'd luv to have one like that, with a 'filling spot'* centered on the end nearest the camera.

[*darn clever feature!]  👍

No, it's one piece.  The printing was a bit rough-looking so this was the equivalent of a fresh coat of paint.

Fountain Pen Revolution is having a (mostly) site wide sale, so I ordered a few ink samples.

Most of it is Diamine (Ancient Copper, Autumn Oak, Blood Orange, Blue Black, Denim, Oxford Blue, Polar Glow, Red Dragon and Writer's Blood), but there's a little Kaweco in the order as well (Caramel Brown, Midnight Blue, Ruby Red, Smokey Grey and Summer Purple).

I bought a 6 pack of Diamine on Amazon, it has Hope Pink, Jet Black, Majestic Blue, Autumn Oak, Ultra Green, and Red Dragon. I just received a bottle of Waterman Serenity Blue to replace the long cartridges I finished.

I tried a sample of FPR Mardi Gras and I liked it so much I am buying a bottle during the sale, plus taking a chance on a couple of their other inks I haven't even sampled yet.

About a week ago a bottle of KWZI Pine Green arrived from Vanness to replace the one I bought in March/April 2018 from Massdrop. Discovered once I had ordered it, I still have about 10-15 ml left of the old bottle. That's ok, it's a color I like. It filled an empty 30 ml Blackstone bottle about halfway. It was too shallow in the KWZI bottle to even fill a Pelikan M2xx pen anymore.

I fell over in both Pure Pens and Cult Pens today and am now excitedly stalking the postie for Diamine Frosted Orchid, Holly, Solstice, Garland and Winter Spice (well they were doing 5 for 4, rude not to), and KWZ Honey, Troublemaker Abalone, Waterman Mysterious Blue, Sailor Tokiwa-matsu and Manyo Nekoyanagi. Whoopsy. This is after a delivery of Pure Pens Westgate Hotel and People's Charter, Diamine Sapphire, and Herbin Bouton d'Or and Ambre de Birmanie...

My excuse is I've been out of the FP game for several years and I have catching up to do. We won't speak of the pile of papers for sampling...
