If it hasn't already, that might make an interesting new thread:

'Ink You've Bought Based Almost Solely On Its Name?'

[Guilty!] LOL

LOL -- Guilty as charged.  I bought a bottle of Noodler's Harold's Hearse on the basis of the name (and the reason behind it) only to discover that the color sets my teeth on edge....

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thanks for the heads up. They’re arriving today and looking forward. I have so many Noodler’s inks that are purple related so I’m going to do some testing. I think after the # of Noodler’s black related inks here purple is next.

I'm looking forward to it.

OOO Good idea!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Oops! Meant to tell you about that, but hadn't seen any sign of you lately [was starting get a little worried!]; and, with all that's going on in my world, it slipped my mind. Anyway, I started it right after you said "good idea for a new..." & meant to include a link -- another brainpoot.

*sigh*

Most recent purchase from PurePens: Diamine Alexandrite (no shimmer version), Waterman Serenity Blue, R&K Scabiosa, and Noodler's Baystate Blue, along with a spare steel flex nib for the Abab and my second bottle of X-Feather Blue.

Exploring more inks marketed as 'Morandi' colors, this time from 班米 (Banmi). My first ink from this brand. Set of twelve 7ml bottles, available with or without shimmer - mine are without.

A belated 'was waiting for', had decided to check out some comparative Blues, plus scored (finally!!) some SBREBrown & another Penbbs Brown I was having a devil of a time seeing a difference in on monitors, so let's see first hand -- with double cool marble-bottle bonus!   Not the neatest of presentations but, here they is, in no particular order:

The box of Birmingham inks were a bit... Wacky. When I held up Basil Pesto I saw a blood red ink with a green residue on the bottle. Similarly the Molten Tin looked pink.

Here you see the reddish slosh when wet on molten tin and (less obviously) basil pesto. You will notice it firsthand though...

In my twsbi you can see the reddish base and the green residue. It's like a reverse of the normal dual shaders. Here, green clings to the page and red sloshes on top.

I am not sure I like these colors, but I appreciate trying something very.....different.

I’m waiting for a couple of inks from Yoseka Stationery’s Ceramic Inks line, Tang Mi Se blue (a celadon like shade), and Qing Shan Hu red ( a sort of salmon/coral color).

You should contact their customer service about this. I’ve bought a number of their inks over the years, and only once was the ink a very different color than what I expected (I suspect it was mislabeled), and they provided excellent service.  I’ve never had any of their inks behave like the one pictured in the TWSBI-something seems wrong there, and I think that is a relatively new release.  The Agave looks very different than their swatch, and may be mislabeled. When you contact them, bear in mind they are a very small operation, and they may take a little time to respond, however, they have always been helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did wonder if some of the red base got into inks they didn't belong in. I can also believe this was intentional. I would love to know if anyone else.bought the box and can compare notes.

Latest test batch of inks...

Due to arrive sometime today. 😃

EDIT: Well the entire USPS of MD is taking a vacation this week and all packages have been delayed until next week apparently.
I have 6 packages in the mail that were due to arrive this week, they've all been waylaid with a delivery date of next Monday.
Thank God I wasn't waiting on medicine...I'd be dead waiting on these useless bums.

After a fruitless search for Montblanc Egyptomania Cobalt Green I am taking a shot on Graf von Faber-Castell Deep Sea Green.
Also waiting on a writing sample of Fritz Schimpf zwischenlicht that a very nice FPN member volunteered to send me:)

The search continues!

Have a great weekend everybody!

Cheers - Nicholas

A bunch of Herbin inks in 100ml bottles, which I ordered just now.

A couple in 30ml bottles.

A bunch in 10ml bottles (which I ordered previously, but they still haven't been dispatched).

A couple more bottles of KWZ Ink IG inks on clearance.

Yet another bottle of Platinum Carbon Black ink as padding for the order value, to reach the free shipping threshold.

Oh, and some small bottles of Tramol inks that are supposedly waterproof.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Many thanks for those suggestions! Robert Oster Deep Sea came up on my radar this morning. I'm not familiar with the Taccia Sabimidori but will add that one to the list as well. I need to buy samples where I can to prevent the ink shelf from sagging:)

Thank you again for your thoughtful suggestions!! I'm "on the way"....

Cheers - Nicholas
