What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

I'm giving up buying new inks (and pens) for Lent. Given all the unanticipated expenses we've had over the last year and a half, it may be longer than that.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

OOO - Have a new Inky TOD Idea!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

  • 2 weeks later...

I found the Sailor 50 states ink for where I live - South Dakota - at Pen Boutique!  Just got it today.

A bottle of 3oz Apache Sunset, it will arrive around the end of April. Indicating I have to wait at least a month for me to get my hands on it. I hate the pandemic.

Cheers,

When I was in Santa Monica last week, I found a B&M store so I didn't have to wait!  Sheaffer Red and Ferris Wheel shimmering inks.

I recently got back into dabbling with my fountain pens and threw in Lamy Mango and Turmaline with my pen order. I have Bashful Blueberry and Grunted Guava by Diamine in my cart deliberating a Cult Pens order.

I'd been really good this month. Now I seem to be waiting for rather more inks than I was yesterday...

Was that before or after the St. Patrick's Day sales emails started arriving?

LOL

Not a lot of those arriving where I am!

Off topic, but the best St Patrick's day I've ever been to has a very unlikely location:

Couldn't access the article beyond the first blurb, but that St. Patrick Day celebration sounds FASCINATING!

I gave in to the sales:

I am waiting for:

Herbin Vert du Gris

R & K Verdigris ( I loved the sample but want to compare these two)

R & K Kastanienbrun

Lamy blue black

and I had to throw in a Rhodia notebook to get over the free shipping hump.

All of these are new colors for me, not replacements.

Five bottles of Van Dieman's Cradle Mountain Grey. Is that hoarding? Possibly, but it's not 17... (that record stands for Smug) In my defense they are only the 30ml size, when I would have preferred the 50 or 100ml, but that was all I could find.

It's my favourite ink for Bullet Journaling and yesterday I finally ordered my forever pen for it. The thought of running out of the ink to go in it (peering into the half empty bottle...) didn't bear thinking about so I contacted Van Dieman who were not very helpful, then hunted around and found these at a retailer - discounted too.

Will work for pens...

Brand: 诗色 (DeepL translation: "Poetic Colors". I have also seen the brand referred to as 'Poezie', which is the Czech word for "Poetry".) All in the Morandi Color* Series (Google Translate used below):

And a nameless one from an unidentified brand, also referred to as a Morandi color:

*'Morandi color' is the distinctive pallette of tranquil, muted colors used by the painter Giorgio Morandi, a favorite of mine.

These inks finally arrived today. I have played with them some and, so far, I am impressed, all in all. E188 and E196 look identical, which I suppose shouldn't be all that surprising given the similarity of the individual swatches from the AliExpress listing, which I included by their names in the quoted post above.

I am going out of town for a couple days and when I get back I'll cook up a demo and post some photos.

I'm waiting for J Herbin Terre de feu. One of those ones that it might have been best to get a sample first, but since it's traveling with a pen from a place that doesn't do samples... it's makes more sense to cross my fingers and hope it's going to be the colour I'm imagining.

Will work for pens...

Doesn't the smallest bottle only cost $3 anyway? It's one I was thinking about ordering, as it happens. I've been on such a spree in the last 2 1/2 years, that there's not a huge number of inks I'm desperate for.

Searching ali for Poezie takes me to shimmer inks and  get nothing for Morandi.  A link would be much appreciated.  E198/193 look interesting.

Add lightness and simplicate.
