What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

Absolutely!

Thanks for that confirmation! Coming from an ink expert, that means a lot! (LOL) The good news is that the red that I chose as the actual replacement is absolutely perfect and exactly the red velvet color I was looking for, so I do feel I deserve to have some extra inks on hand after all the effort I went to in finding it. :D

So, which ink is that?

Not sure I should tell you after I had to find it without the help of a red ink comparison sheet from you... :sm_cat:

(But since you asked so nicely, it's Pennonia Meggyes / Sour cherry.)

A very nice ink, I agree. And ink-deservingness is very much a real thing 😉

Thank you for sharing! I look forward to your additions to the community's reference library of comparisons that, um, some has postulated must exist if natural law holds true in this universe. 😜

hmmm... I suppose I could do a comparison of my eclectic collection of 20 - err, 21 - inks, if that would be useful to the community... but then I wouldn't be able to play 'Guess the ink!' over on FPG anymore because everyone would be able to just consult the comparison sheet to see what I have and I would end up having to buy all new inks just to keep playing..... .....  ..... ..... aha, I see what you're doing there, Dill!  :lticaptd:

Uh oh, I did it again. (ordered more ink, that is)

  • Herbin - Bleu Myosotis
  • Robert Oster - Summer Storm
  • Pure Pens - Llanberis Slate
  • Diamine - 150th Anniversary Lilac Night
  • Sheaffer - Blue/Black cartridges (mainly because I needed some Sheaffer cartridges for refilling but, on second thought, this is a great grayish, greenish blue/black so I will likely use them as is)

I am restocking on some colors that are running low, and I am trying a few new (to me) inks:

  • R&K Dokumentus Dunkel Blau
  • Iroshizuku Take-sumi
  • Akkerman 23 Bekakt Haags
  • Pelikan 4001 Violet

I almost ordered one of the Akkerman reds, but I don’t know which one to start with for a neutral red (not obviously blue- or yellow-leaning), so maybe next time.

I am especially curious about the Iroshizuku black.

My wife couldn't stand my agonising over the decision of which three bottles of Pilot Iroshizuku ink to order together any more last night and, since she couldn't talk me out of placing the order at all, despite making the prediction that we won't end up using up what I already have of Ina-ho (which she thought was the most striking out of the shortlisted inks), never mind all the other Iroshizuku inks, made the decision for me with regard to the contentious third bottle. So, now I'm waiting for:

  • (just) one more 50ml bottle of Ina-ho;
  • one 50ml bottle of Fuyu-syogun, of which I only have maybe 8ml left from my 15ml bottle; and
  • one 50ml bottle of some ink that is not Pilot Iroshizuku, which was painful because it wasn't discounted, and there wasn't much else I saw on offer from this retailer (with or without discount from the supposed retail price) that was ‘worth’ getting, i.e. that I don't expect to be able to get more cheaply from elsewhere some time within the next few months.

Does your wife use fountain pens as well? Do her ink tastes converge (more or less) with yours?

Yes. She has her own fleet of, I dunno (even though I bought all of those), fifty or so.

Mostly, although she is not so into iron-gall inks, pigment inks, etc. and does not really concern herself with sheen and water resistance as sought-after properties. Colour-wise, our core preferences overlap at large, except where orange is more of my thing and purple hers for inks that stand out on the page.

I'm afraid I have also been weak...

Prodded by my guilt about Vinta Armada's high price per volume relative to the other inks in my cart, I somehow found the willpower to remove it just before I hit the button to check out. So at least a trifling bit of self-control.

The regret I am feeling now is a penance, of sorts.

I am super excited for my incoming inks. They are brands I have not yet own and only tried samples.

From Kiwi inksTriColori GOld sheen with purple base, QuetzalcoatlGlamorous Peacok

From Vanness Pen Shop, Vinta-Mermaid Green and a bunch samples of Kobe, Robert Oster, Ferris Wheel Press, Taccia. I am in the process of looking for a vibrant orange and deep dark Black-brown to go with my new pens.

I suppose it will add to your penance if I mention what a gorgeous ink Armada is... One of my absolute favourite greys at the moment.

And if her fleet attacks your fleet...?

How cool that you share the interest ... and also diverge.

I'm quite interested in a couple of the Vinta/Cult Pens exclusives, most especially Ulap/London Grey, so I think holding off for a future order from them with other Vintas, including Armada, might prove to turn out wise.

But, yes, thank you (?) for adding on. I'm guessing that repentance to a fellow sinner is neither sincere nor effective, unfortunately.

I fairly recently picked up my first couple bottles of Vinta and have been quite pleased with them. The brand was completely off my radar.
