Oh I do love Yama-budo, those were just the last Iroshizuku inks missing from my collection (plus one backup bottle of my beloved but discontinued Tsukushi).

Ah, I feel better now!

I already have my backup bottle of Tsukushi ;)

You might have got away with pen and one bottle of ink, but 40 notebooks? Not sure you can do the "what these old things - I've been waiting for them for ages" trick with them.

My wife is less upset with those ~25kg of paper products that arrived yesterday, than she is with the new pens. Maybe it just coincided with, ”I got to the end of the notebook I'm using for work, and need another one,” meaning, ”Could you please dig up a suitable replacement from the literal tonne of boxes of paper?” That, and her publisher just accepted another manuscript of hers yesterday for a children's book, so she's already thinking of starting the next one.

It also helps that the retailer described the books as being “96 pages (48 sheets)”, which has held me back from ordering them at $5 or even $3 apiece on previous offers, when to my surprise they actually contain 96 sheets; and Daiso's recent blanket price increase in Australia made paying $2 instead of Officeworks's price of $28.49 all the more acceptable, haha!

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I actually have a bottle of ink coming to my house, first one in a while: Robert Oster Blue Water Ice. I have used up a sample, and I have loved it. Coming to me from vanness1938....

Someone here mentioned Fountain Pen Revolution has a Halloween sale that includes inks: https://fprevolutionusa.com/

So, I have Organics Studio Henry David Thoreau Walden Pond Blue and Nitrogen Royal Blue ($12 for 55ml) plus Diamine Sapphire. Of course, I got a pen also (Himalaya v2 with ultraflex nib)

Just received my order of Akkerman Inks from the official website.

SBRE BROWN

DELFTS BLUE

SHOCKING BLUE

HOPJES BRUIN

VOORHORT? (PURPLE).

Wont be able to ink any pens with my new ink till next week. Too busy with work to clean my pens :(.

Delfts Blue and Shocking Blue are GREAT inks.  Shocking Blue is one of my favorite dark blues (even sheens on crummy paper), and I've been running Delfts Blue since I got it in one of my Parker 51s.

Not as enamored of SBRE Brown (it's a little light for my taste, and diluted it just looks pale orange -- YMMV.  Think I have a sample of Hopjes Bruin but haven't gotten around to trying it yet; don't remember which purple I have.

At mine, perhaps 40 is young?

Sigh.  The first time I ever felt "old" I was actually only in my mid-twenties....    We just won't talk about how long ago THAT was....

When I was a kid, I remember thinking that in the year 2000 hold OLD I'd be.  Well, that year has come and gone a couple of decades ago.... :headsmack:

And my Vanness order is now out for delivery!  I was a little worried a couple of days ago when it apparently went BACK to the Little Rock distribution center and then there was "radio silence" all of yesterday.  But just saw a couple of email updates -- the first said that it had made it to Pittsburgh around midnight, and the second one said that it was out for delivery.... (Whew!  I can now cancel the panic attack....  I had been having horrible visions of the dregs of the bottle of Akhmatova leaking through the packaging....)

Hey, Vanness Buddy! I have some inks from them out for delivery today, too. :)

Turned out that I actually got an *extra* ink -- I didn't realize that the White and Red Safari came with a bottle of Lamy Vibrant Pink (several other vendors were doing that, for Breast Cancer Awareness, but I didn't realize that Vanness was doing that as well.

Of course, I stupidly forgot to order a converter, so at the moment the pen is inked up with the cartridge of Lamy Black which came with the pen.  And of course I didn't really need a THIRD bottle of a shimmer ink that I already apparently had TWO bottles of.... :wallbash:  (Bad enough that I now have two samples of Robert Oster's Dragon's Night because I forgot that I already had a sample of it that I hadn't tried... :headsmack:)

What an adventure!

At least you got a free ink. When I went looking for the red and white Safari some weeks back, none of my usual shops even mentioned it. I ended up ordering it from Wonderpens - no big deal; just a few days longer shipping.

But then a week or two later, everyone was selling it. And now you tell me that some shops were giving away presents with it? Ugh.

(Hmm. Looking at my pen tray: I wonder how much work it would be to swap the red clip onto my red Safari and put the stainless clip on the white? I already have a red-and-white cap on my USA Safari. Do I really need another one? I didn't think this through. . .)

Both versions of Kyo No Oto 09; Ruined Purple and Cherry Blossom Mouse. Both are violet. One is discontinued. I could not choose!

Oh, and "Soft Snows" to compare them both to, of course!

Placed an order with Birmingham for their Sixth Avenue "Poseidon" pen and three inks. It's my first order with them.

  • Ice Rink - bright blue (someone compared it to Ama Iro)
  • Gerbera - dark pinkish red
  • Heron - I think this is a dark blue, but the swab pic can look a little greenish, too

I like the color of Sakuranezumi here much better than the redder images I have seen elsewhere.

Oops! No intention to be misleading! I only put the order in this morning, will repost with the actual inks when they arrive! Yes, Sakuranazumi looks a bit plummy for me, but as a pair I think they might be rather lovely? Hoping so!

The above was written in Ink Studio #650 - I always like to get a sense for the Tenkoku for new inks. The "mouse" is a neat idea, and the "ruined" is quite apocalyptic: the exact point where fire and water meet!

I'm on the mailing list for several different vendors.  The advantage is that a lot of them have the same retail prices, because they're all dealing with the same US distributors, but have different wares.  I don't do it so much anymore, but I used to keep track of the cost of ink samples from various e-sellers as price per ml. (as to who would give me the best bang for my buck).  And look to see who's got what, just in general -- especially for inks, because not every business carries (or likely could afford to carry) every offering from every company.

Of course it also meant, one time a while back, that I was ordering from three different companies simultaneously....  Just to get all the stuff I wanted at the time.  And it means that I can hopefully help support different   small businesses.  The same way I have different repair people in mind for different pens: "That person is my Snorkel guy, and that person gets to work on my Vacs, and that person works on other pens which need repairs...."

Three inks ordered today.

Atlas Stationers

  • Iroshizuku Momiji - bc always gotta have a bottle of this one around
  • Iroshizuku Tsukushi - had to resist the temptation to buy 2 bottles given the whole "discontinued" status; I go through ink so slowly

Franklin-Christoph

  • Urushi Red 30ml - saw this one on a youtube video somewhere and really liked the looks of it, so I added a 1oz bottle ($8.25!) along with the two #6 nib units I ordered. Might be a great match for a dark red ebonite Ranga 4C I just grabbed on pen_swap.

Broad nib?

1.1 stub for each pen/ink.  Or maybe FPR Ultra-flexes.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

I just did a hefty PIF ink purge, over on reddit. Now my collection is down to a more manageable number, with some inks I actually use regularly instead of drawers full of purty ones I bought on impulse and will never ink up more than once (if that).

Wait, I just counted, and I have 8 bottles on the way right now from 4 different shops. 😲

When does it end? 🙄
