Diamine Writer's Blood has shipped from Cult Pens today.

And - finally!!! - a package of GvFC inks has landed at the airport. One of them is Stone Grey - the Jinxed Ink - ordered three times previously, each ending up out of stock or broken in transit or back ordered and cancelled. This one has been waiting to ship since June... OK, found some wood. The tracking says the 29th... How can something get from the other side of the world in just four days and then take ten to get across a city?

Will work for pens...

I have a 70ml bottle of Pilot Blue-Black on the way. One of the few times I will use amazon for ink.

Those perfect little 30ml bottles were sold out locally. I know for about $6 more than I paid, I could have ordered the 350ml bottle. But as with the little bottle, it would have had to come from Japan.

Also, I'll probably never even finish a 70ml bottle, even though it's one of my favorite inks.

80ml btl of Diamine 'Bloody Brexit' I'd slam forgotten I had on order (just arrived, fm Germany), and of course had taken forever to get here after it entered the USA.

Described as "a dark royal blue with a ton of red sheen", I had wanted to cancel the order after reading (at well-noted ink reviewer) that months after written, it was still smearing. I sloshed a few drops onto paper (the packing list/receipt, actually) and blew it across the page [see], leaving it fairly dense in a couple spots, to test. Don't know if Diamine's changed the formula or what, but the stuff dries very quickly, and no signs of smearing at all

If I said I'll fix it, I will. There's no need to remind me every 6 months.

Nice one. It kinda reminds me of Diamine Bleu Cuivré (the LCDC ink). That one isn't too bad on smearing either, as opposed to some other Diamine sheening inks like Jack Frost or Polar Glow.

What is this money pit obsession hole I have fallen into?

I just ordered a bottle of Waterman Mysterious Blue, although it's for click-and-collect from a local department store, and I'm not actually waiting for it in the mail.

That sorta breaks my promise not to buy any more ink for at least a year. The reason excuse? The ‘high-end’ department store sent me a birthday gift voucher with a relatively short expiry date, and it isn't generally a very price-competitive business and there is very little it sells around the A$10 mark worth getting (and that I couldn't get cheaper elsewhere, even after the additional $10 off). If there was no lockdown (and consequent temporary closure of bricks-and-mortar retail stores), my wife and I would've gone to all three of the chains that sent me birthday gift vouchers to pick up (most likely) pointless stuff for nil out-of-pocket expense; but we aren't able to do that right now, and won't until some time in October by which time the vouchers would have expired.

The ‘purchase’ of this bottle of ink doesn't even consume the full amount on the voucher, which will expire in a matter of hours, but at least I'm not topping up with money from my pocket.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Not waiting - it arrived as a top off sample to make sure I got free shipping.  Ukiyo-e Ainezu.  It seems to have good shading properties and dries quickly but doesn't have the level of color saturation that I like.

It did catch my eye in the demo I saw, enough so that I broke my norm & ordered with what I understood would be a long wait. It had genuinely slipped my mind.

And trust me, that photo doesn't do it justice, but Lawd, check out that sheen!

*oooooo, sheeny!!*  😂

But [re similarities] - ya ever imagine some of these ink brewers running up a replenishment batch & just can't get it to 'come out right', so they're all "Well, here's another one we've gotta come up with a name for!" ?

You're a riot. 😂

Yes, I can totally picture it.

"Oooops, we messed up that one, it's a hair too dark now."

"Yeah, but it looks kinda nice though."

"You're right. And it'll cost us a fortune to throw this out."

"..... Let's just sell it under another name".

Please oh PLEASE post a review of 45th POTUS!!!!
That one has been on my list since it came out...

Well well, I received it today, wrote up a page for you with it, and, no matter what I tried, I couldn't get an image that looked much like the color at all, even with trying two different cameras and trying to color correct with software.

That said, while I don't have Iroshizuku Ina-ho, it looks a lot like the pictures I see of it online. But with Ina-ho, there's a kind of, well, sickly tinge to the color in the images I see and I've never put it on my want list because of that. PenBBS 269 45th POTUS does not have that sickly tinge. It shades pretty dramatically, though not untastefully, has a bit of the 'halo' effect. The darker parts of the shading look like the swatch I posted from deskbandit.com, but a slight more green. It shades to a kind of greenish khaki, not unlike the tint of dark khaki pants, but without the darkness. To me, it doesn't look anything like the really brown image at Vanness nor the grey-ish lean of the image here nor the orange look here. I don't think this is the same ink but it looks a lot like a lot like the image here but with a slight more of a mustardy green look. I think it has very natural, earthy look to it and I kinda love it - it looked great to me from when I first laid the ink on paper, and that doesn't happen too often. It's not really at all like Guilin but I think it would really appeal to fans of Guilin, as I know you are.

So far I've only used it with dip pens and, while I won't say anything with any certainty about the performance yet, I suspect it will behave much like my other PenBBS inks, which are all pretty darn solid. There was no feathering and very little bleed through where I really piled it up on a couple different papers.

So, in conclusion 😀, I say that, no matter the color of your politics, the color of PenBBS 269, 45th POTUS is awesome sauce to the power of infinity. Just get it!

I'm already way past the point where I can remember what ink I have without consulting an inventory list (I can thank an aging brain for some portion of that, however). So, assuming adequate self-control, I'm off buying ink indefinitely, going cold turkey ... Unless I find a great price on something I really want ... or, likely, whatever other (probably lame) excuse I will come up with to tell myself that I just *need* to buy some more ink. 🙃 (The reality is that I am actually pretty darn happy with what I have now and plan to sell off a bit of it, even.)

You cut the most important part: "... assuming adequate self-control ..." . 😁  But, if more of those 60ml PenBBS inks with colors I really want come up at $6/pop or a good price on the TAG Stationery inks that I don't have or a great price on Diamine 150th Anniversary ink or ... or ... or ... What was it that Oscar Wilde said about temptation?

I'm saturated.

Lord, please help me. Waterman Mysterious Blue just appeared at a really good price here, which has been high on my want list for a long time, as did 30ml Herbin 'D' inks (I really want Bleu Myosotis and want larger bottles of three others that I now use regularly ...).

I am resisting - yes - I can do it - I can control myself - I really, really can ...

I'm still beating myself up for not having ordered more 30ml bottles of Herbin Cacao du Brésil when they were available to me at A$4.50 a bottle and with no additional shipping charge on top of my free-shipping-eligible order at the time. That ship has sailed. :(

That price would be a good reason to break my moratorium on buying ink. The price I am resisting is the equivalent of about A$12.00 delivered, which I don't think can be beat here. But, I'm wanting only one 30ml bottle each of Cacao, Vert Empire, Vert de Gris, and Bleu Myosotis - even with one of each I'd likely never get through even a 30ml bottle of one of those colors, particularly given how much other ink I already have.

[edit] And the Waterman is the equivalent of about A$8.20, delivered.
