goodness, those Taccia boxes really are so pretty. One of these days I'm going to treat myself to a couple of bottles just so I can look at them!

So I use the Taccia ink but I still have the box on display!  They are stunning.

I found a good price on some PenBBS inks (about $6 USD per 60 ml bottle, shipped - sorry, Shopee online in Thailand only) and, after really liking my first two bottles of PenBBS ink (390 Guilin & 391 Su Shi), I decided to purchase a few. I won't try to include the names in Chinese - the English translations are ones I found online so I cannot guarantee accuracy.

  • 227-sw100.png.d2fcbda4bd24682f891975f5c80dee60.png227 Purple Jade/Smoky Purple - All I can find online are two swatch images but they are intriguing enough to take a chance on it.
  • 278-sw-100.png.4ef237addbd577dfa9387e9aa4e2d661.png278 Lhasa City - Again, there's very little to be found online but it looks to be a dusty brown-red, likely the color of a Tibetan monk's robe (think Dalai Lama), especially given the significance of Lhasa to Tibetan Buddhism. Again intriguing enough to risk ordering and, as I am a serious practitioner of Buddhism, it has some personal significance.
  • 344-sw-100.png.fc9b414422c6ac42a9359ef9609d1d2e.png344 Mulberry - Thank you to FountainPenPharmacist.com for a nice review that sealed the deal for me. Not to mention that it looks to possibly be a worthy contender in the 'ink that resembles purple yams' quest.
  • 346-sw-100.png.4b50577c39a0ad8edc1649b0a708ef22.png346 Misty Mountain - This is the ink I have been looking for. Thanks to MountainOfInk.com, FountainPenPharmacist.com, and the reviewers on Vanness. Finger's crossed, this will be the medium grey-purple of my dreams ...
  • 408-sw-100.png.a18d56a108a86ee80f34f0dad2d7b333.png408 Xiamen City - Not much online - looks to be multihued shading of light blues and purples. I don't have any multihued shading inks yet so ...

Thank you to deskbandit.com for the swatch images (as well as the Rothko vibes), which I resized to 100x100 pixels.

30ml bottles of Macassar and Monaco Red and 1864 Blue-black from Cult. Good thing I ordered that 2nd bottle of Golden Amber from Stilo e Stile because Cult is out.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I think I have received all the inks I have on order except for a bottle of Edelstein Topaz, which is on the way.

I debated over it or the similar and slightly-less-pricey Iroshizuku Kon-peki. I will probably still get a bottle of Kon-peki one of these days, as I enjoyed the sample.

But in the end, I decided that I wanted a blue that I could put into a vintage sac-filler without anxiety, should the mood strike.

Ord'd samples of Iroshizuku Shin-kai (1st candidate) and Tsuki-yo for the new TWSBI Swipe in Prussian Blue that's also on the way.

Do you ever order an ink for a specific pen you'll want to use in it, or a specific pen to use with an individual ink?  Or is it me that's just weird like that? 🤣

Both.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Not yet, but it'll probably happen 😅 I currently don't even pair up inks and pens by colour, and would happily use red ink in a blue pen and green ink in a red pen. 🙃

La Couronne du Comte provided it as a gift. Perhaps you could ask them if they have any more?

Absolutely. I nearly always order a bottle of ink alongside a pen I am ordering. And if it's just one ink, I will try to match it in some way with the pen. Last time I ordered a Lamy 2k (black), I also ordered a bottle of Edelstein Onyx with it. Did I need another black ink? No. But it goes with the pen.

(Ironically, once the pen arrived, I loaded it with Take-sumi instead. The Onyx remains unopened at the moment.)

I don't know why i always see that as "Sakit-Tume". Too much Rowan & Martin?

Hmmm... this might fit in better in the '...Growing Old' thread!

You're welcome. 😀 My initial thoughts on this ink are very positive, by the way 👍

I have also heard good things about it. I think I will pass, as I suspect the shipping to the middle of nowhere in the Canadian prairie will be very pricey, but good to know there is some still out there.

Enjoy!

Not really, especially if compared with, say, ordering inks from US retailers to be shipped to Third-World-but-not-Third-World Australia.

In any case, LCdC's eligibility threshold for free international shipping (by DHL, no less) is just €150, which is again relatively low compared to US and Japanese retailers, if the latter offer such thresholds at all.

Once you stop looking at buying ink as <$10 ‘micro-transactions’, but always as part of a larger purchase — whether that's 17 bottles at once, or tacked onto some pens and/or leather pen cases — then you'll find the marginal international shipping cost of a bottle of ink is often ‘free’, and so the listed unit price (after discount) is really what the ink will cost you, even if your wallet takes a much heavier ‘hit’ on ever instance you feel like trying/getting some new ink. 😄

I'll second this. Their international free shipping threshold is relatively low, and DHL do an excellent job of international delivery.

Three more bottles of Golden Beryl and a 2nd bottle of Manyo Yomogi as I've gone through almost 1/2 the one I have.
