A bottle of Diamine Manggis, which is a new ink colour to me; and more bottles of Diamine Jalur Gemilang, which is one of my favourite ink colours, but unfortunately is exclusive to one retailer, which makes it difficult to get without the delivery charge costing the price of two bottles, especially when its threshold for free international shipping eligibility has gone up several times the past couple of years.

Some 50ml bottles of Sailor Shikisai ink colours as well, all to pad an order for a single pen.

I hadn't come across either of these - I get so lost in the retailer specials that all the ink makers seem to be doing now that I lose track.

Where can the Sailors be seen? I'm not sure I even know which range this is!

The sixteen Sailor Jentle ink colours in the Shikisai range, which were previously available in 50ml bottles (in the old design with the round footprint), have been rebranded to become the first sixteen out of the twenty Sailor Shikiori ink colours that are only sold today in 20ml bottles (for the same MSRP as the old 50ml bottles, if I'm not mistaken) and as ink cartridges.

There are few retailers still with old stock of the 50ml bottles; and, among those, offers at the old prices are increasingly hard to find.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Very pleased I asked - thank you for an excellent enable :)

I'm very glad to hear that. I had to seriously stomp on my proclivity for excessive hoarding when “the price is right” yesterday, and stop myself at three 50ml bottles of the Shikisai ink colours (“just” enough to exceed the threshold value for free shipping to Australia). When they arrive, I'll have fourteen unopened 50ml bottles (and many opened bottles) in that product line.

You see - that's made me feel so much better about getting all six of the remaining colours, and one or two (ahem) other things to justify the shipping cost - which was actually very reasonable.

I wish I could say I thought I was done with ink buying for now, but I can't. Actually, I don't really wish it, as it makes me happy - and we all need a bit of that at the moment.

Ah. I don't have any of the three lighter colours among those six. I hope you enjoy them, and I look forward to seeing your ink reviews! 😉

$30 of grey samples from Vanness....

How many shades short of 50? ;)

In other news, my own shipment from Vanness showed up yesterday and it was a home run: all four inks are keepers and unlike, for the most part, any others I have. And I have waaaaay too many already. Another win from Vanness!

Ha!

My hair is 60+ shades of grey....

Nice batting ave. On those inks. We'll see how I do. I wanted some OS Arsenic Grey, but that's not in stock anywhere. So I spent 5x more in vengeful avarice. 🤔

Oh that is a dangerous place, isn't it?    Especially for ink....

On the first part, I hear you. On the second: in your collection or your incoming samples, do you have DeAtramentis Fog Grey? If not, I'll send you a sample, I've enjoyed it. Very dependable ink.

Thanks Jon. I do have the DeA ink already and I do like it. But it is a true flat slate grey, and the ones I have coming all have hints of other colors mixed in. It's one color group I have not played in much, and I wanted to get myself a little present. Many grey's are too light for me, so I ordered some darker ones that Vanness has. Love Vanness (and the Andersons). Goulet...meh...

I don't see 30 samples of grey excessive. No,no,no. Grey is so many hues. There's a problem with the naming, not the hoard collection stash supplies. We need more words.

It's a bit like restricting a landscape painter to one 'green'.

Vanness, you say.

Will work for pens...

Completely understand.

One of the best things about the pen shows (when we had them) was spending time with both the V and A families. Really good people.

No bottles at the moment, but I do have a sample of the new PR American Blue coming with a (third for me) 24 pen case from Pen Chalet.

I never tried the original.

I got a message this afternoon advising that Rikyucha (of which I ordered two 50ml bottles) is “currently out of stock”. We're not amused, especially considered that Sailor has discontinued the 50ml Jentle ink bottles as retail products for a while now. The least the shop could do is to tell me, ”Sorry, this ain't ever coming back, we shouldn't have left the item in the web shop's catalogue!”

Asking me whether I want “another colour of Sailor Ink Four Seasons” is kinda stupid when it doesn't have ten out of the sixteen Shikisai colours, and I can't even trust that it has stock of the remaining six listed. Why don't they just open their kimono, tell me what they actually have to offer, and ask me how they can avoid letting go of the sales revenue they thought they'd already captured with my order? 😡

I got that one too - and there was me thinking you'd grabbed the last couple of bottles! I see they've now delisted it as well.

Did you nominate any substitute product? I'm just curious, because they asked me if there's another colour in the series I wanted; but, in your case, you already ordered all they have to offer in that series on the same order.

I opted to have one of the LE diamine's instead - the purple/green one (I already have too many blue/red sheeners) and if nothing else, it will be nice to have to give some samples away! It was a couple of RM more, but they didn't seem worried about that.

Digging through my junk mail just now, I noticed I got a reply from the shop yesterday advising of which Shikisai colours it still has 50ml bottles in stock, and there are two that were not previously listed. (Doyou is now gone as well, but I think I've secured a bottle in my original order.) Those two colours might be OK; let me think (and re-read some reviews).

In the meantime, though, I've already spent the money from the expected refund (and topped the budget up, too) on three more Van Dieman's Ink inks, not that I'm impressed by its customer service so far, but my wife seems to like its products.
