How lovely! That's one of the ones on my wishink list - you can never have too many muted greens IMO!

Agreed!
They also pointed me to Vanness Pens as a retailer for these Penbbs inks. I thought they were only available via chinese websites until now, awesome!

That looks like it could be a nice one - there's a pic of a card with sample writing here: https://www.wellappointeddesk.com/2019/12/ink-review-newest-penbbs-inks/. Nice label.

Someday I will wade into the waters (inks?) of PenBBS - there are so many colors that look like I would love (and just as many, if not more, that I wouldn't 😉).

Please let us know how you like it.

Oooh! thank you for the link!
I most certainly will post a review of it once I have it tested. :)

Me too, just to qualify the order for free shipping; and so I picked the three sheeniest non-shimmer inks I saw.

I was tempted by Sweet Fig too, but it was nudged shoved out of the cart by Cradle Mountain Grey. I was determined to get just three.

Well, so much for that. I was prompted by another mailing list communiqué from Van Dieman's Ink on Thursday that declared, “50ml for 30ml Price ends soon!” but mainly talked about the offer of buy-three-get-the-fourth-free, which in conjunction with the offer in the emails subject line would be tremendous value for money.

First off, though, the buy-three-get-one-free offer didn't kick in properly; and then when that was fixed later that night (and those on the mailing list were notified by email), I could not get it to work with the 50ml-for-30ml-price offer. All the same, I ordered another three 50ml bottles, and sent the company an email about it.

I just got a reply half an hour ago, long after the my latter order has been marked as shipped (now that was efficient!). Not exactly the answer I was expecting, but at least they replied, which was more than what I got to an email I sent the previous week.

Also, a bottle of the R&K 2021 LE ink, and a bottle of Pennonia Tihanyi Lila, which should be arriving by DHL before the end of next week.

These, due to a screw-up on the part of the LCdC, hasn't arrived yet, but I know for certain that they on their way to me in a separate DHL shipment now, which the boss there personally arranged after apologising for his staff's error.

Edit: The package was delivered bright and early this (Monday) morning. Yay!

So, now, expected to arrive in the coming week are:

  • the new R&K 2021 limited edition Isatis ink;
  • Pennonia Tihanyi Lila (which is the second Pennonia ink colour I ordered; the first one arrived last week); and
  • six different Van Dieman's Ink colours,

none of which have been reviewed on FPN (and, to the best of my recollection, elsewhere).

I am delighted with Milligram Outlet - my order of two Jacques Herbin Noir Abyssal arrived Friday. Rarely do I have something arrive from anywhere so quickly. The bottles are very elegant. The inclusion of a tiny booklet, showing the other colours in the range, a nice touch. The grey is tempting.

Meanwhile the tracking for the Van Dieman's package, which was ordered some days earlier, says it is still another week or more away. I am not grumbling. It is good to have something to look forward to.

Will work for pens...

I am also waiting for Inks from La Couronne du Comte but shipments have always been erratic for me with them, so I am not sure when these will arrive... been waiting for a few weeks already... 🤔

Anyhow, this is what I am waiting for:

- Krishna Inks RC Series Ink Bottle - Jungle Volcano

- Krishna Inks RC Series Ink Bottle - Moon View 2

- Krishna Inks RC Series Ink Bottle - Sea at Night

- Krishna Inks S Series Ink Bottle - Paakezah

- Krishna Inks Super Rich Series Ink Bottle - Halloween Orange

- KWZ Ink Standard Ink Bottle - Baltic Memories

- KWZ Ink Standard Ink Bottle - Walk over Vistula

- Diamine Ink Bottle - Fountain Pen Ink - Writer's

A little focus on Krishna's inks that I always wanted to try 🙂

Recently received Colorverse Ink Bottles - Supernova which is my new (blue) favorite. Amazing ink even if the drying time seems a bit on the long side.

My Van Dieman's order finally arrived - post is slow everywhere - very nice packaging and the bottles look and feel quality. Impressed. Except... they sent one wrong colour. I ordered Launceston Fog because it's blurb said it's grey but with "slight brownish hue, and is an excellent ink for drawing, sketching and ink washing". What I received is Morning Frost which is a blue-grey with shimmers. I don't do blue or shimmers. :(

Have contacted them and waiting for a reply. Mistakes happen. It's what happens after that matters.

Will work for pens...

My Van Dieman's order finally arrived

My first order arrived yesterday as well. No mistakes there; I got the three colours (Blackened Seas, Hanging Lake, and Sweet Fig) I ordered, and it was packaged well enough, although Van Dieman's Ink's stylised logo on the tissue paper around the retail boxes looks like a bunch of ink stains at first glance and caused me alarm.

Now waiting on my second order (of Eggplant, Zucchini, and Sweetheart Cherry) of three bottles, which hasn't since any movement on the tracking since “Shipping information received by Australia Post” last Friday morning, about three hours after I placed the order. I suspect VDI only ships once a week, and the package is still sitting on its premises.

I noted, from the label outside, that VDI sent the package by MyPost Business. That would cost north of $6 in postage and packing materials (including the shipping box). Considering free domestic postage applies to orders ≥$30, I wonder whether the company makes any money on orders of three bottles of ink at all.

Also arrived yesterday out of the blue (since it was untracked): a bottle of ESS Registrar's Ink.

Van Dieman have replied to my email about the ink mix up, shipped the correct one and sent the new tracking number. All within 24 hours of letting them know there was a problem. I will definitely order again.

I needed some Montblanc ballpoint refills. So I went to montblanc.com and ordered.

Instead of just paying a few bucks for shipping, I added a bottle of Royal Blue ink to the order, to make it free shipping. 🤪

A few other bottles just ordered from Pen Chalet:

  • Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku
  • Robert Oster Bondi Blue
  • Edelstein Tanzanite
  • Sailor Studio 442

Except for the Bondi Blue, I have tried all of these inks and really enjoyed them.

I was issued a tracking number for my second order last Friday morning, hours after I placed the order. The current status, a full week later, is still at “Shipping information received by Australia Post” with no apparent movement to the next logical step of “Received by Australia Post” (according to tracking history for the first order), so I take it that VDI hasn't actually lodged the parcel (along with orders from other customers for the week?) at a post office yet.

(The alternative scenario is that VDI just prints the Parcel Post labels on the premises, sticks them on shipping cartons, then dumps a pile of them into a street-side postbox every few days, and right now the parcel for my second order is sitting for the Nth day in a red postbox waiting to be collected by Australia Post for processing, Tasmania being Tasmania.)

Edit: Finally, at 3:30PM today, the tracking status for the parcel was updated to “We've got it”. That's seven (whole) days and three hours after the order was marked as shipped in VDI's online shop platform. (My previous order was ”received by Australia Post” last Thursday morning.) So, as I said in an earlier post, it looks to me like VDI only physically dispatches orders once a week (as opposed to the alternative scenario of Australia Post only collecting from street-side postboxes in the Newstead area only once or twice weekly).

I didn't know that. No blues at all? What about blue-black?

Thankfully the Monteverde Brown Sugar was only used with a glass dip pen to make a swatch the day it came home and never actually inked a pen so the only loss is the AU$15 I spent on the ink. :glare:

Given its lack of water resistance, and the fact that I have so many other brown inks (including umpteen unopened bottles of Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz and Rohrer & Klingner Sepia), I doubt I'll be using my bottle of Monteverde Brown Sugar. Too bad Australia Post's (recently increased again, too!) Parcel Post prices make it not worthwhile shipping a single bottle of ink across to the west coast. Maybe I should look at what else I can send along with it to you. 🤔

You got me there, since blue-black can stumble into cool grey territory, you're right. Truth is: I've been so busy in the grey-brown-black-murky green part of the ink world I haven't properly explored yet.

Long ago I learned with art to say "I haven't come to appreciate x yet", I shall now extend that to ink. It may save embarrassment later.

Kaweco converters for the Kaweco Sport. They seemed nearly impossible to find for a while. I've read not-so good things about them, but I have come to really hate cartridges. I told myself an advantage of switching to fountain pens was that I wouldn't be just throwing plastic pens away anymore... You know, when you want to convince yourself that doing something that costs dozens of times more makes sense... 😆

A bunch of Papier Plumes. I've resisted for so long, and shipping is so expensive, and I'm going to get stung on tax/ransom, but I really, really wanted them. And I got the last bottle of one of the LEs that I was especially keen to get.

I suspect I may have a while to wait until I actually get them though.

And now I'm also waiting for some L'Artisan Pastellier Callifolios. I had no idea that they were SO much cheaper bought direct from the supplier, especially in the refill pouches. I'm more than happy to reuse old ink bottles, so these are perfect for me.

A bottle of Diamine Manggis, which is a new ink colour to me; and more bottles of Diamine Jalur Gemilang, which is one of my favourite ink colours, but unfortunately is exclusive to one retailer, which makes it difficult to get without the delivery charge costing the price of two bottles, especially when its threshold for free international shipping eligibility has gone up several times the past couple of years.

Some 50ml bottles of Sailor Shikisai ink colours as well, all to pad an order for a single pen.
