What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

@AmandaW How about Toucan inks, then, if you need/use so much ink? That's another Australian-made ink you can buy in one-litre or even two-litre bottles, and buy directly from the manufacturer without going through JustWrite. I think @RedDingo likes them, and added included samples of two of the ink colours to the pass-around box. Did you try those?

(I think my wife would divorce me if I bought a 1L or 2L bottle of ink now, after the seventeen 50ml bottles of Smoky Quartz just arrived! She seemed happy to get her bottle of Olivine that matches her Pelikan M205, though, so I'm not entirely sin-binned just yet.)

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Kaweco inks, a bottle each of Black Pearl and Summer Purple; plus a box of cartridges, Caramel Brown. I wanted a few cartridges because I've ordered a Sport Skyline, but no converter for it - I'll be refilling the cartridge that comes with the pen, over and over, it will probably last for years. These will be spares. I'm still chuckling at the dinky little converter that came when ordered with a Sport as a gift for one of my sons a few years ago. I use way too much ink for that. Even out of an EF nib.

Caramel brown is a wonderful ink either in a bottle or in cartridges. Very well behaved, with a lovely color. Doesn't stain anything (including hands) but paper. Smooth and lovely. I actually like the kaweco converter because it holds too little ink, I wastes less ink in my less-frequently used pens and makes ink testing easy.

I understand the Kaweco cartridges are standard international so others I have of other brands, kept for the same reason, should work, but I've recently lost confidence in that. I used a Dupont cartridge in a Rotring Art pen and had all the ink end up in the cap. And from there to my desk, writing and hands. The same thing happened a few days later with a Jinhao X750. Maybe Standard International isn't always standard?

The second time it happened I had been looking out for it and was ready with a converter and a syringe to rescue the ink! The Dupont black is fantastic, because it's undercolour is a lighter version of itself - no purple or blue or something else garish - when touched with a water brush. I want that same ink in a bottle! I've ordered the Kaweco Black Pearl and, a few days ago, Herbin Perle Noire hoping to find that characteristic.

I've used international cartridges (Kaweco and some Pelikans IIRC) in variety of pens without any problems. The thing is the cartridge may get loose after some use so, either use a long one in a long pen or support the short one with an inverted one as a "pseudo-spare". It'll prevent movement and ink leak.

The problem with worn down cartridges are not leak but air-seal loss which may cause ink to clog the pen and cause some hard starts.

At the moment: Raduga Blue.

What's the big thing about the way it is supposed to stain plastic?

Or clog pens? It IS the proper FP-friendly type before you ask.

But hey, at least I didn't pay a 'Baystate Blue' price.

There's no way it's going any where near anything pale colour, unless it is a Chinese Safari look-alike.

Now also tempted by Camlin Blue.... As if I don't already have enough variants of blue already.

I see the new Opus 88 Koloro Demonstrator in Colorful hiding in there. Just recently received mine from Pen Chalet, it's a winner. Besides the long turn for these pens, they're amazing especially with the gold nib.

I'm waiting and hoping it's in the mail is the Kickstarter from Hippo Noto with the new Pygmy and A5 books with Tomoe River (whichever version of Tomoe it is!) and some special edition erasers from Blackwing for my volumes.

Was real close on a Sailor Pro Gear Fire Red yesterday but it sold out on me at a ridiculous price at Endless Pens.

One word: perfectly. I'd give the guys at LCdC 11 out of 10 if I could.

The "tower" of goodies I received today brought me such delight (and alarmed my wife).

It's actually a Fine Writing International 'The Planets' series Mercury pen. The steel JoWo nib on that pen is great, but the three-and-a-half turns it takes to uncap the pen is a bit of an annoyance.

The black pen is a Cross Peerless 125.

I saw that email from Endless Pens, and it was sold out by the time I'd come around to it (as it was sent to me at 2AM here while I was asleep), but it's just as well that I was never so hot on the 'Fire', and I already bought the 'Ocean' in both the PG and PGS (which my wife and I love but don't use often enough) at steep discounts on par.

For my tastes, Sailor Pro Gear Ocean > Earth > Fire.

Thanks for the update. I thought I was seeing the Opus. I had the Fire in my cart in zoom nib and then got sidetracked asking them some questions. I bought 4am and wicked witch recently. I didn’t like the Fire that much but I have so few Pro Gears so at $177 I was in.

A Smug Dill:

Why on earth does anyone need 17 x 50ml bottles of Pelikan Smoky Quartz.

With the risk of them becoming Exhibit 'A' in a divorce case the reason had better be a good one...............

Decided to get Diamine Sargasso Sea. Which of the Diamine inks is known as a sheen monster?

I got this for the shade of blue it represents.

I go between bright and/or heavily saturated inks and more muted vintage-looking inks throughout the year - really enjoying dreary colors right now: dusty blues, dark greens, and greys. Got an order for Robert Oster Great Southern Ocean and Grey Seas and Vinta Elysium Green, Aegean Armada, and Deepwater Blue Lucia coming.

What has need gotta do with anything when it comes to (dually) opportunistic and hedonistic consumerism?

My poor long-suffering wife would sooner divorce me for being awfully messy, leaving stuff strewn all over our shared living space, than for having too much of something we like that we may never end up depleting in our lifetimes.

After ordering the attached hot mess through AliExpress, I am now patiently waiting for the arrival of Sailor Shikiori Shimoyo, Doyou, Rikyucha and Yodaki.

The way Endlesspens packages inks has been much better than the AliExpress experience that happened last week.

Had to go and wrest my last package from Royal Mail in the end, as they kept casually forgetting to deliver anything all week (I live 150 yards from the delivery office for goodness sake, how is anyone else in town getting mail at all these days?). Anyway, my Sailor Nioi Sumire turned out to be Sailor Shigure, which Pure Pens graciously let me keep, refunding the money, as they had no SNS left to send me. Thankfully Andy's Pens still had some in stock so I've grabbed:

Sailor Jentle Nioi Sumire (old style 50mls)

Diamine Cobalt Jazz

And a blue, broad, Kaweco Sport Ice.

Not generally one for shimmer ink but the colour grabbed me, so I'm going to try eyedroppering the Kaweco with it.

Well I can't imagine going through 17 bottles of any ink in my lifetime. But, hey -- there are worse colors to get than Smoky Quartz....

Not faulting your taste -- it's just that 17 bottles of ANY color are just sort of mindboggling.

Oh, that photo is just PAINFUL. :o

What was it? Looks like a Iroshizuku box -- you weren't able to find it from any of the US retailers?

Haha, what about 26 (genuine) Wing Sung 3008 piston-fillers, not counting the bogus ones I got sent by a seller (which has since been dealt with)?

Sometimes it is not about the result. It is all about the hunt...in my relative short time here reading these pages, I seem to have read many times about such hunts by a poster under the handle inkstainedruth... :P

I'm waiting for two pinks, two purples and a blue. Aurora purple and RO Viola, which I have been sitting on the fence about for the last two years. Pinks are Twsbi and RO Australian Opal Pink. The latter got plenty of unfavourable reviews which made me curious. And for good measure I added Australian Opal Blue into the mix. Fingers crossed.

Greetings,

Christina
