What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on those. I was just getting ready to do some simple colour comparison of brown inks I have in sets of nine, so did some initial swabbing to form the groupings (and rejecting a few of the thirty-odd inks for the exercise). Diamine Espresso ended up in the same group as Pelikan Smoky Quartz, but not Diamine Macassar.

I will look forward to seeing those.

And now I'm waiting to hear back from Cult Pens as to whether I'm too late to add one more ink: Herbin's Perle Noire. I had intended to order that or Kaweco Black Pearl, then forgot, in my hunt for a water soluble black with no obvious undercolour. Hopefully this will be the upside of slower packing & shipping: there's time for the idiot customer to correct an oversight. I'm not complaining! It is, what it is, in difficult times. If they can't accommodate, I'm pretty sure I've seen the Kaweco available from an Australian seller. No longer Herbin anywhere here that I can find, I'd like to be corrected on that.

Will work for pens...

Sailor Nioi Sumire 50ml - old style Jentle bottle while there are still a few around.

Diamine Majestic Blue 30ml - I have no idea why I haven't tried this one yet.

J Herbin Larmes De Cassis 10ml - just a little un to try out as this colour intrigues me.

I've been holding off on Nioi Sumire as I thought it was too close to Waterman Serenity Blue for me to justify. Having tried them both in the same two pens though, Nioi Sumire's higher lubrication completely won me over. A new workhorse ink for my medium nails.

I have Diamine Macassar, and it's way darker a brown than Smoky Quartz. Have not tried Diamine Espresso, so I'll be very interested to see comparisons.

Saw that Standard Bindery went out of business so I looked to see if any of their inks were available in the states, only was able to get Stargaze.

A few randoms: R&K Carmen, Sailor Ultrmarine, and Monteverde Moonstone & Sapphire. Also have some of the Manyo line coming in: Nekoyanagi, Yomogi, and Akebi.

I'm real curious how its staff is going to pack my next shipment, which contains (if I'm not mistaken) 23 bottles of ink and two pens.

One word: perfectly. I'd give the guys at LCdC 11 out of 10 if I could.

The "tower" of goodies I received today brought me such delight (and alarmed my wife).

Yes. Cult Pens did respond, there will also be a bottle of Herbin Perle Noire in my order in addition to Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz, Diamine Macassar and Diamine Espresso.

I think I'm still looking for Kaweco Black Pearl, but curiously Perle Noire translates to Black Pearl. Are these the same ink?

A bunch of samples I ordered at the beginning of May, that still haven't left the EU... That's waiting.

Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

I can't help buy remember that my order of Hero 232 and 234 inks was "in transit" for over 90 days before (some of what I ordered) finally arriving.

That is a great job with the packing, and the shipping box seems, at least from outward appearances, to have been treated with at least a little respect.

Could one infer from the picture of the contents that you are a fan of Smoky Quartz? :)

Been on a big Herbin kick lately, so I made the most Herbin order possible from LCdC:

- The 500ml anniversary inks

- they had a 4-for-3 deal on their regular line (sans the latest ones), so I got Vert Empire, Vert Olive, Terre de Feu, Bleu Pervenche, Orange Indien, Eclat de Sapphire, Lierre Sauvage, and Ambre de Birmanie

- A Pelikan Smoky Quartz that was on sale for good measure

How about ink one is NOT waiting for? I had a Cult Pens order that took a little longer than usual to ship. It included four of the low-end Sailor pens that would have qualified for the free cartridge offer that began yesterday. My order shipped yesterday. Since one must explicitly put them in the cart to get them and my order was submitted several days before, I am expecting: nothing.

Clearly not astute at shopping. :(

I had a look at the ink cartridge choices on offer last night, while I was putting my order. It wasn't/isn't as if cartridges of nano-pigment inks or Shikiori inks are on offer anyway. I understand the niggling regret of lost opportunity to take maximum advantage of a legitimate offer open to everyone at the time, though.

That is true, however any ink is good enough and welcome for drills of italic hand with a 2mm nib... so many pages, so much ink. I'm not sure whether to blame my being a slow learner or perfectionist. Probably both. If I had prepared more thoroughly I would have ordered the Pilot ink in the huge plastic bottle. Or gone to Officeworks for whatever was least expensive. And I'm irritable because it has been one of those days. So many character faults.

They could have sent their emails to arrive in my inbox on different days. LOL.

Just before the COVID-19 madness, I was contemplating getting a one-litre bottle of Blackstone Ink from JustWrite.com.au for ~$72 (and a few other things to pad the order so as to get free domestic shipping), but as I haven't tested the inks and have only read about their lack of water resistance, I was reluctant to commit. Well, it looks like that ship has sailed, the web site now consistently shows a total blank, and even though I sent an unsolicited private message on FPN to Kevin to see if he and/or the company is still around, I never heard back.

So, I suppose the next best thing would be to order £70 worth of Diamine inks from Cult Pens when it next offers a brand-wide discount for those. Hero inks from China would be a cheap option, were it not for the horrendous shipping charges for bottled ink (and my total lack of confidence that the sellers will properly ship and deliver what is ordered).

As the part of "The Last Haul", I'm waiting three bottles of Smoky Quartz and a bottle of Mont Blanc Royal Blue.

Kaweco inks, a bottle each of Black Pearl and Summer Purple; plus a box of cartridges, Caramel Brown. I wanted a few cartridges because I've ordered a Sport Skyline, but no converter for it - I'll be refilling the cartridge that comes with the pen, over and over, it will probably last for years. These will be spares. I'm still chuckling at the dinky little converter that came when ordered with a Sport as a gift for one of my sons a few years ago. I use way too much ink for that. Even out of an EF nib.

I understand the Kaweco cartridges are standard international so others I have of other brands, kept for the same reason, should work, but I've recently lost confidence in that. I used a Dupont cartridge in a Rotring Art pen and had all the ink end up in the cap. And from there to my desk, writing and hands. The same thing happened a few days later with a Jinhao X750. Maybe Standard International isn't always standard?

The second time it happened I had been looking out for it and was ready with a converter and a syringe to rescue the ink! The Dupont black is fantastic, because it's undercolour is a lighter version of itself - no purple or blue or something else garish - when touched with a water brush. I want that same ink in a bottle! I've ordered the Kaweco Black Pearl and, a few days ago, Herbin Perle Noire hoping to find that characteristic.

Will work for pens...

I think there might have been a problem with JustWrite's email long before. I contacted them a few times for different reasons and didn't receive a reply. Then later when a delivery leaked I sent them a photo to let them know the bottles that are meant to be leak proof may not be. My Uluru Red said so. And a little goes a long way with inks. All cleaned up, lid tightened and wrapped in plastic it's now in the Australian pass-around box, along with my two other Blackstones. I didn't like the scented ones. And I don't like being ignored by a vendor. I didn't expect replacement, but did expect a reply. A poor email system can be very costly for a business, it was that, not the leaky bottle which stopped me ordering from them again.

Will work for pens...
