What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

Star Ruby is a pretty nice color. Not overly fond of Aquamarine, but I'm with you on Olivine -- I liked it more than I expected to.

I've needed a better selection of brown/sepia inks for a while, so Diamine Ancient Copper arrived Saturday and 150th Anniversary Terracotta is on its way.

So far I *really* like the Ancient Copper!

So many restoration projects...

Have you tried Noodler's Walnut?

I found it to be such a lovely shade of brown that after I had used it it was hard to go back to other browns I used before.

After I got Graf von Faber-Castell Hazelnut Brown, I was so impressed and in love with the ink, I can actually see myself not using any other browns. This coming from someone who loves brown inks and has many different ones. Hazelnut Brown has been in a pen since it arrived a few months ago. I have recently placed an order of Diamine inks and almost added Ancient Copper to it, but reminded myself about Hazelnut Brown (also a reddish brown) and didn't.

I have both those inks. I’d recommend Visconti Sepia.

Received a bottle of Parker Quink Black today from amazon.

Waiting on a bottle of Parker Quink Washable Blue from endless pens.

Ordered a bottle of Parker Quink Black from Amazon and received an empty ink box (no bottle of ink). Must be a sign that I've bought enough ink for now!

What with missing items and broken items and used items delivered by unidentified, untrained, boorish independent contractor Amazon delivery people, I think I'll be paying for postage from now on for items purchased elsewhere. (Perhaps an uncalled for rant, but really, send an empty ink box?)

Was this directly from/fulfilled by Amazon? Or from a 3rd party vendor? Because I'd be filing a complaint/negative feedback rating regardless.

I have to agree with Ruth GreenMountain. Your rant is totally legit. Who would believe.

Regular Amazon order, Ruth.

Hmph said the camel. I believe in supporting small businesses anyway, so I'll just take mine elsewhere.

On a lark, I just placed an order for Hero #202 Blue-Black ink from China.

More specifically, ten bottles of it. The shipping charge is the same for one bottle or eleven bottles, and I figured that while the seller may be inclined to just throw the one bottle (in its thin cardboard retail packaging) inside a tiny, flimsy plastic shipping bag with little or no protection, with ten bottles he/she will have to use a shipping carton, or at least tape the ten retail boxes together in a strong rectangular formation and then put some bubble wrap around it neatly before sticking the lot into a shipping bag.

Total out-of-pocket cost, including shipping and tax, comes to something likeA$11.22.

Now let's see if the seller will actually send the items, or cancel the order straight off with some excuse, or pretend to have sent it but the promptly give me a full refund when I complain in two months that I haven't received my package yet!

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Thats terrible news, and I hope that Amazon took care of you in getting it replaced or refunded.😱

I generally prefer to order my fountain pen related items from a proper pen shop, and Ive only ordered two bottles of ink ever from Amazon. In this case, the bottle of Parker Black Quink was only $6, and I didnt actually need it. I just wanted a full selection of Parker inks to go with my Parker pens, with my black carts running out.

But I admittedly felt bad about it, and your story reminds me why. Goulet or Vanness or pen chalet would never have sent me an empty ink box.

A bottle of Edelstein Star Ruby just arrived. I'm tempted to collect of the Edelstein inks as they're so well behaved, but to be fair the colors range from the delightful, like Olivine and Aquamarine, to the meh, like Mandarin. I guess orange inks aren't my thing. I am sorry that I missed the now discontinued Amethyst.

What do you think about the Star Ruby? I tried a sample, and I want to like it, but I cant decide if it is red or pink, and I am not sure about the in-between color.

I have similar feelings about the Edelstein inks: I either like them a lot (Tanzanite, Onyx, Olivine, Sapphire, Ruby), or they are pretty dull (Mandarin, Aquamarine). Star Ruby is the first one I am on the fence about, and I am debating buying a whole bottle. I wonder what occasions I would use it for.

For me the Sapphire has a very pleasant purplish overtone, but alas, I missed out on Amethyst, too...

What type of lighting were you under? To me, it appears a sort of red-wine color, on the bluer side of reds. Especially when placed next to Taccia Momo (the only thing I have that is /more/ pink is a half bottle of Levenger Pinkly).

Presuming Pelikan sort of followed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shades_of_red#Ruby the great contrast between the low green component and the nearly half intensity blue seems to match what I see on paper. If the blue and green components were closer matched I'd consider it to be a pink (scroll down and compare the RGB values of the actual pinks and light red category).

Diamine Earl Grey.

And I'm trying NOT to get Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa - because according to my calculations, I'd need to order three bottles (of different colors of course) to make it less expensive or the same price as the inks readily available around me (Parker, Pelikan, Waterman). Which would mean : Scabiosa, Alt-Goldgrun (out of stock), and possibly Salix. I want to try iron gall inks in some gusher pen.

I ordered the inks from Nemosine that are made in England. I ordered Imperial Purple and Prussian Blue. It seems like Diamine is the source of these inks. You get 60ml for $5.99.
