What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

I miss Pinkly... (I've got about half a bottle left). Too many blues, and all too similar (Blue Bahama and old Fahrney's/Private Reserve Blue Suede are very similar to me -- or am I thinking Daphne Blue).

Always Greener was nice -- being something other than the omnipresent green so many produce.

And Shiraz and Claret were nice reds that, as I recall, didn't crust up on a feed.

Received today: Pelikan Edelstein Star Ruby and Robert Oster Soda pop blue (damn you, Appelboom inxperiment) and ordered a Diamine woodland green on the side. Haven't had time to test the Diamine yet, due to an accident involving stairs and a week knee. Will have plenty of time over the weekend to test things out since I'm not able to walk.

Another 50 ml L'amant, along with a sample of Fuyu-gaki and a 10 ml Herbin to get free shipping; figured I'd give Cacao another go.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Sorry to hear that! I hope you recover soon.

Earlier in the week I received bottles of J. Herbin Perle Noire, Cacao du Brésil, Lie de Thé and Vert Empire, KWZ Ink Honey, Rohrer & Klingner Sepia, Lamy Benitoite, Pelikan 4001 Dark Green and Fount India; still waiting on stock of Noodler's Blue Ghost ordered on the same day (about six weeks ago). Also arrived are Diamine Purple Rain and Smoke on the Water. I had to open up a bunch of new (Sailor Profit Junior demonstrator) pens last night just to accommodate some of them.

On order are Platinum Classic Ink Cassia Black and Forest Black.

KWZ Honey!

Hoping it's going to be similar to Edelstein Amber (which would have been my preference, but is now discontinued!)

I was also considering Noodlers Apache Sunset as a possible alternative, which effectively brackets the Edelstein product, seeing as the honey looks a yellow, whilst the Apache Sunset looks a little too red.

Trying to second guess colours online is silly though, because photo images are so colour variable once uploaded.

Anyway, we'll see when the product arrives, but there's always an option to home-brew a mix, although mixing outcomes are not always predictable!

I have no idea how well it compares to Edelstein Amber, but Honey is beautiful in both color and behavior. It smells good, too.

I got coming:

Noodler's Black
Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black, Violet, Royal Blue, Turquoise, Brilliant Brown

So I can at least start an ink collection. Got a Diamine Earl Grey too, but I only think it looks good in broader nibs that allow for the shading to work.

I'm waiting for some Herbins (rouille d'ancre, bleu myosotis, rouge grenat, violette pensée, bleu nuit) and Diamines (tyrian purple, imperial purple, Chopin, lilac night, Tudor blue and monaco red). I have a blue/purple phase right now.

Sailor Jentle Chushu in the 50mL bottle. Apparently I managed to nab the last one in the store! I hope. The order hasn't processed yet so my fingers are crossed. :D

Also some Diamine Midnight Blue in the small bottle, just because I keep reading about people saying it has great properties as an ink, and I want to see for myself.

  • 2 weeks later...

Akkerman Old Masters #9 Vermeer Steenrood, along with samples of Garuda Rood, KWZ Flame, KWZ Brown #4 and Noodlers' Beaver.

I've been looking for my perfect "Brick". Kobe is a great ink but is too red for "my" brick. Antietam is a glorious color, but more fruit (tomato/persimmon) than brick. Monaco is close, but turns strawberry with water!

Whilst waiting I loaded up some long neglected (too smeary!) Ancient Copper. Then I had a total panic attack, what if Akkerman inks really are repackaged Diamines, and I had just spent $40 on something I already had (and rejected)! What if Vermeer = Ancient Copper and Garuda Rood = Monaco Red?!?

Thankfully I went back to the only review of Vermeer I could find on here and Ancient Copper is one of the comparisons and appears quite distinct - phew!

Baited breath on this one though!

Got a bottle of Iroshi Yama Budo this weekend. Technically I didn't get it in the mail; I bought it in NYC and flew it home with me.

Diamine Cult Pens Iridescink Robert

Diamine Cult Pens Iridescink Maureen

Diamine Jalur Gemilang (3 bottles)

I tried all 3 as part of the Australian Pass Around Ink Samples and decided that, despite almost 200 inks, these 3 were essential to my life and wellbeing.

Oh? I didn't realise someone had added Iridescink Maureen to the box's contents. :)

Diamine Jalur Gemilang seems to have been a bit of a hit, and I still like it very much, but now that I've received a 80ml of bottle of Diamine Smoke on the Water earlier this month, I think I'll hold off replenishing what I have of DJG for now, and hopefully Pen Gallery in Malaysia will still have stock of it later along with colours in the Sailor Studio Ink line that I want, to make the order amount threshold for free international delivery!
