I'm waiting for my J.Herbin Vert Reseda and my first bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki.

It's been a week and I'm hoping they're gonna show up any day now!

Kon-Peki is a wonderful ink... one of my favorites.

Laguna Niguel, California.

A new ink from the Philipines; Troublemaker Mango. Someone has to go first.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Iroshizuku makes wonderful inks and for me kon peki is the nicest blue ever. Enjoy it!

Thoroughly agree with you about Iroshizuku Kon-Peki. Have gone through 3 bottles of it since 2017. Now that the de Atramentis Adular Blue has arrived, I have been smittened by its lush island blue look. Along with Sheaffer Skrip Turquoise, I think I have my three favorite blue inks.

Vintage on the way... Sheaffer King's Gold!

For some reason, there's been a recent flood of Parker Penman on fleaBay, but King's Gold and Peacock Blue have become more scarce.

Now if I could find a bottle of Persian rose.....

I haven't been looking at Skrip online very long, but I've never seen a bottle of Persian Rose anywhere. A month or two ago, I saw a bottle of Melon Red included in a lot of inks at a low starting price in auction. The seller didn't know what they had, as the Melon Red name wasn't mentioned in the title or descriptive text of the auction.

I lost track of the auction and couldn't find it again when searching, but after looking at Melon Red writing samples, I decided it wasn't an ink I'd ever use, so no huge loss there. If I ever see Persian Rose at a decent price, I'll probably pick one up.

Just received my first Iroshizuku ink today (Momiji) and I love it so much I immediately ordered a bottle of Tsuki-Yo.

Carefully plotting the rest of my inky purchases as that second bottle ate a lot of my budget 😄.

In a 50ml bottle and not a 15ml bottle, I take it?

'Tis a shame you're not based in Australia; otherwise I could possibly send you a bunch of samples of Pilot Iroshizuku and Sailor Shikiori inks at acceptable postal charges, to better help you decide.

Definitely 50mls 😄.

Oh that would have been wonderful! Still, mustn't grumble. We can get 30mls of Diamine here for the price of a small coffee so it's only fair.

Speaking of Australia, a bottle of Robert Oster Blue Sea will be headed my way next, once I've figured out what else to squeeze into the package. Was the first sample I ordered last year but has kept getting leap-frogged.

The only Robert Oster ink I have (among 175+ different inks of various brands) is Marrone Mustard. My impression is that RO is most known for red-sheening blue inks that aren't the least bit water-resistant, and frankly that bores me, Australian or not.

Today I'm expecting a bottle of Platinum Classic Ink Khaki Black to arrive from Japan. I'm just about done acquiring Japanese inks, after a long phase of favouring them above all else, until I discovered Diamine and KWZ and their relative cost-performance ratio. Right now I'm contemplating getting bottles of R&K Documentus inks in Braun and Dunkelblau, and perhaps J.Herbin Lie de Thé. Sadly most of the Diamine inks just wash off without leaving too much of a trace after a ten-minute soak.

Washability is something of a pro when you're clumsy 😄. Ended up grabbing just the Robert Oster and some Diamine pen flush because it's a pig to clean, so now on the way:

Iroshizuku Tsuki-Yo

Robert Oster Blue Sea

...so two beautiful, shading blues and I'll save the rest of my pennies towards a fine italic Parson's Essential. It's been looking at me.

I quite like his murky colors, Bronze, Khakhi, Motor Oil, and especially Melon Tea are lovely.

Finally pulled the trigger on KWZI Monarch from the Fontoplumo store because I have been lusting after their exclusive Kaweco Sport in Sunrise and am using my upcoming birthday as a justification.

Also waiting on Birmingham Arugula & Marmalade, Rohrer & Klingner Aubergine, and Papier Plume Moss Green & Bayou Nightfall. This should keep me busy for a while.

Viva,

I would love to hear your thoughts on on the Arugula. I really enjoy the Birmingham Inks aesthetic, but I have two of their greens already, am drowning in murky greens (I was looking for "the one", but have a good collection I am at least happy with now), and trying to not give in to the temptation of "every green ever" . . . . but that Arugula does look rather tasty!

I think it depends on which of the two greens you have - I have a bottle of the Southside Park Fern Moss and samples of Schenley Park Thicket Green and Thomas Mellon Evergreen. I would say that Arugula is different enough from those three to warrant owning a bottle based on color and its limited edition status. So far it seems like a nice, no-fuss ink, a little less-saturated than Fern Moss, but more green. Dry time isn't bad, performs just OK on cheap paper. Definitely prefer it to Thicket Green and am glad I have a bottle of the Arugula and a sample of the former. Arugula really is a good name for it, because looking at it does remind me a lot of those peppery greens.

I would say that it is a nice complementary green ink to have, though I suspect it won't blow you away. I don't have any greens that are quite like it, which is nice since I am a serial ink sample switcher. Looking at my swatches, I would say the closest thing I have to it is Rohrer & Klingner Emma (https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/331225-emma-rohrer-klingner-sketch-ink/), sans the water resistance. For $6 and 30mL, I think it is worth buying for a murky green lover.

On the opposite, more brightly-colored side of the spectrum, I must say that I really love the Marmalade ink too. A perfectly legible orange-leaning yellow ink.

Thanks Viva . . . . or not!

I really liked Emma and Lilly from the sketch inks, but waterproof is of no interest to me as I like to be able to write, sketch and wash with the same ink, so maybe Arugula would be just the thing?!

I agree with you about the Birmingham Thicket, I may have another go once summer rolls around, but hard to get excited about that one.

I do like the Birmingham aesthetic (and pricing!), but of the dozen or so I have only Fern Moss and Rachel Carson get regular use.

Funny enough, I just today received my bottle of DA Marone/JJR based on your recommendation, and... it looks nearly identical to Arugula haha. At least according to my swabs. I think people have suspected that DA makes the Birmingham line of inks, so it wouldn't be too surprising.
