Waterman #7 Black nib

Apologies for not getting this up further. I am not very skilled in dealing with attachments, but I'l try. There are two samples. The first was written for this (so, predictably, I choked a little more when writing it), and the second one was just me writing, and so I decided to include that, too.

I really do love this pen. A lot. I thought I'd regret taking the leap (and I'm certain I overpaid for it), but every time I try the pen, I am pleased that I got it - no regrets (just an altered/adjusted budget). It's like having a well behaved best of all worlds wet noodle that acts predictably and is easy to use for everyday writing, in a big sturdy pen with a big ink capacity.

While my handwriting is pretty decent, it's nothing like most of the folks here. I am trying to make time for it. So, apologies if this isn't as pretty as you expect (it's not what Antonioz could do with this, that's for sure) - and I know the Copperplate stinks.... But I found I was putting off doing this, feeling my handwriting wouldn't be good enough to post for this special nib. So I decided just to write it in my regular fast cursive/print and go ahead and post it. I hope to have a better one one of these days to post.

OK, enough talking, here they are. EDITED to add resized image

How about a close-up photo of the nib??

I'm camera challenged - I'm working on it right now.

Wow! Thank you kushbaby for this review (I think you can post also to the review subforum, it would be a great addition for a so special and rare fountain pen!). Seems your pen has great flexibility, also for the "brush alike" I find so pretty in these vintage nibs.

Many compliments for your purchase, I'm sure you'll enjoy a lot of time with it.

If I can suggest you, try to make some pictures with more light, and with a light background; I'm sure your camera would work very well.

Thanks for sharing.

Another "WOW" here. Waterman pens of this era are a favorite of mine. I don't recall seeing a writing sample from a Black nib before- very nice.

Regarding "overpaying" for it: No matter how much you may regret overpaying, it will always be less than the regret of not buying it would have been.

Thank you very sharing.

Best regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I know I'm being repetitive, but when this pen meets the paper, it really does feel like you're using a paintbrush. Marvelous.

I'd be glad to post under reviews - is it kosher to post the same thing? Or does it need to be different?

And thanks for the photo tips. I haven't spent very much time learning how to take nice pen photos, unfortunately. I will work on that. :D

Thanks, Yeah, that was exactly my thought process - "This is a huge amount of money, but I will regret it for a long, long time if I don't get this pen"... It was a lot, but you know, I don't regret the purchase one single bit. It has the best writing characteristics of any nib or pen I own, by far, and is the only superflexy/wet noodle pen that I could see using on a regular basis, as I find it much easier and user-friendly than the other super-flexers. I write letters with it. And birthday cards. And grocery lists. Basically, any excuse to use it...

I'm getting better at using it to its fullest potential (handwriting-wise).

:D

Very nice indeed! Thanks for the review, very few people will ever get the pleasure of writing with a #7 Waterman Black keyhole nib!! I have some reds which are fairly easy to find but a black is a very special find. Congrats!

  You can make up some of your money by renting it out :D

:D :D :D

Once I get over the sticker-shock and feel comfortable about sending it, perhaps I'll send it to you so you can give it a more proper test drive...

Now THAT would be a writing sample...

I think it's sufficient post the same things: your impressions and pictures. Because it's a rare vintage fountain pen, you can give a great value to FPN reviews archive.

Thanks again.

I want to add my "Wow!" to your post. This is a beautiful pen and I appreciate your photos and your writing samples and impressions. There is so much in the world of pens that one can never see and handle in person, so it is through sharing this way that others can get a glimpse of what is out there.

Like they say about real estate...God isn't making anymore of it! This will always be a pretty exclusive pen...I'm glad that it's in the hands of somebody that appreciates it and the craftsmanship it represents...guardianship application approved by the court!
