Iroshizuku Kon-peki

Here's my review of the kon-peki.

I quite like this ink - fills up a missing space in my blue ink collection.

My scan makes this ink appear a little more vibrant than it really is BUT it is a vibrant ink to start with, so dull this image a little smidge and you will be very close to what the ink actually looks like.

I received a small sample of this ink through an ink exchange. I love it. Pics do not do justice to the beautiful and interesting sky blue, with a subtle shading. Very well behaved ink with good flow. Cons: price and availability.

I picked up a bottle of this from someone on the board here. It has become my favorite blue. I just LOVE IT!

Thank you for the review!!

This is also a favourite blue of mine, and it also reminds me of summer.

Click here! for another scan. Warning: the colour on the scan looks more green/turquoise. In reality Kon-Peki is a bright, vibrant blue.

Yes, the sample I've got looks like your scan, MiniMaupassant, a vibrant blue indeed. So anyone has the AquaBlue that Biffy mentions to do a side-by-side comparison?

This is absolutely my nr1 ink at the moment! Too bad I only have a little bit left of the sample I got... Have to visit ebay soon to get me a whole bottle (unless someone here is wanting to trade or sell theirs)!

Is this ink different from Namiki Blue ?

I can send you a generous sample?

The scan indeed gives that impression, but it misses the dramatic shading you can get from the Kon-Peki that the Aqua Blue does not have. If you write with a broad or a wet medium nib, you sometimes get a "halo" of dark blue/black around letters. I believe a different review somewhere on here has a scan that shows that pretty well, though I can't find the thread at the moment.

To my eyes (which aren't necessarily the best these days) the scan is lighter than what Kon-peki looks like on paper when I write. IMHO, Kon-peki looks similar to a bright Noodlers Eelskin blue with a slight (extremely slight) shot of turquoise.

BlueBlazes has defined the deep shading Kon-Peki has very well. Is hard to explain if you don't see it, but is there when you write, as it is the sensation of using it. I'm very impressed by this ink, the truth. Then again, price is an issue.

  • 5 months later...

The Bleu Pervenche is a much lighter blue than the Kon Peki. I bought this thinking it might be a substitute, but it is not...

I don't have the PR so I can't help you with that comparison.
