S.T. Dupont Medici L.E. Fountain Pen

To be honest, i think the pen resembles more Santa Croce, Santa Maria del Fiore is a quite a bit busier in its detailing than the pen, and the clean white panels bordered by green on the pen is very reminiscent of the same panels on Santa Croce. In any case, I don't think that it really matters which Florentine church the pen was inspired by, because the Medici's had influence in pretty much all of them, and there are several churches in Florence with that distinctive white green and pink stone

Comunque, è una bella penna e spero che ti è piaciuto Firenze!

(Anyway, it's a beautiful pen and i hope you liked Florence)

Ciao,

Ern.

I didn't think about that and I agree with you but now that you have pointed out the error I am going to have to get it fixed.

I did love Florence. It is now my favorite city (and I have been to a few) besides going back home.

Thanks again,

Neil

Beautiful pen, and a very nice review, Thank you, Neil.

I am now in the process of acquiring a [surely I only need one?] Dupont pen thanks to you revealing their beauty and the excellent craftsmanship.

Miranda.

Thank you and you are welcome.

I am glad that the review was of some assistance. Please share with us the Dupont you eventually purchase. As you may know, I have a couple others, if you would like pictures or a review of one that you like, to help your decision making, please let me know and I will try my best to accommodate.

Regards,

Neil

Neil,

A succinct but great review.

Now that I have sold off my only Dupont, your review has made me curious again. Mine was one of the older, smaller Fidelio's, which I liked due to its compact size. You could post it far enough down on the body to where the weight didn't bother me (I tend to like light pens-you keep them in your light tent when you go camping..).

Mine did have some problems with skipping. I believe it had an MH nib. I'm not sure what that was, but it was close to a broad to me.

I have to agree that it was one of the smoother nibs I have owned. That, along with the build quality, really gave you the impression that you had purchased a quality pen.

One favor: I know you posted a picture of your collection, but for those of us that aren't up to speed on Duponts, can you post one of the Shaman (since you seem to favor it)?

Thanks.

I have never tried the Fidelio, I will have to get around to it sometime. I agree with you on the build quality, the duponts are really impressive.

I would be happy to post some pixs of the Shaman but Andy just did a review and has some great pixs here

I have experienced many great pens before the aquisitions of my two S.T. Dupont Orpheos, and I can say I am one of those very satisfied and happy Dupont pens owners. They are the pens I always love to write with and I do it everyday. For me they are perfect pens that could survive dacades taking into their materials and build quality... and the design is also unique. I love heavy pens as they sit stable in my hand without strain writing with them merely under their own weight. Nibs are shaped elegantly and functionally and are very reliable and smooth, and the slide cap is also very practical in many cases. I really don't miss in them the piston being cartridge/converter fillers as they have their advantages and disadvantages also.

Nice to hear of another satisfied S.T. Dupont pens user. :)

Thanks for your honest review and nice images!
