I like your review on the 146. I have the 146 with a M nib in the platinum trim. It is a little short if I write with it without posted. Otherwise, it is a fine writer and I feel I am too protective of it as I usually carry in the proper pen carrying case or roll. I have not yet clipped it in my shirt pocket as I don't want to stretch the clip from overuse. I am testing the water by clipping my Pelikan 215 to my pocket to see if the clip gets loose (my rationale is the 146 should be more durable than a low end 215.)

 

Compared to the Pelikan models, I feel this pen will develop some scratches around the area where the cap is posted. I also had to give the cap a little more nudge to keep it stay posted. With a Pelikan (at least a 215 and a 1000), I don't need to give that extra push to keep them posted.

I actually did give a pen that rating. I listed my Binderized 145 as a five droolie pen but this was earlier in my pen collecting days. I think it's more of a four droolie pen now as there are others that might surpass it. I hold the 5 Droolie rating to a much higher standard these days but there are a couple of pens that I think will qualify if only I could afford them to review.
