Some Greens - micro reviews

I snipped out the Squeteague and Blue Suede from these samples because for whatever reason they don't photograph "true" or even close enough for me to dink with the color balance without doing separate pages. Which I may do at some point.

But this gives a pretty good idea of the variation of a few greens I like.

quickie comparison. It's safe to ignore Squeteague and Blue Suede here as well. But I left them in. Squeteague is a lovely color - here it looks hideous. Blue Suede isn't nearly so blue as this image would lead you to believe.

Thanks for the nice review. I agree with you on Squeteague being a nice color and hard to photograph. It's probably my favorite color out of the few greens I have (not into greens much, but Squeteague is more of a green-blue-black).

OOoooooo!

Greens are a weakness for me. These are lovely! Thanks for the comparison pics; very handy. The Hunter is one I wouldn't have really considered, but it looks great here. Good info to have.

Nice review. I too am a fan of green inks. I really like Noodlers Sequoia as well. It looks like it is similar to Squeteaqgue but maybe a bit lighter and a bit more green.

Hunter Green is quite nice. It's as close as anyone has gotten to Penman Emerald when in a wet writer.

I'll try to get a good image of Squeteague though you can find my brief comparison of it and Umber I think in the Inky thoughts forum which shows a much better representation of Squeteague.

The greenest green I've ever seen is Levenger's Always Greener. Much lighter and greener than the posts above. If green floats your boat, you can't get any greener than that.

Thank you Kcat for the comparisons! I see why you like the Penman Emerald so much, it is stunning. I like green also and use it when I can, but it will probably takes years to go through my bottle of Noodler's Green Marine.

Thanks, KCat, inks comparisons are always of interest, and most especially when they are greens! :D

You might want to try MB British Racing Green. I wasn't a fan of green until I tried it.

Thanks for another glimpse of that disappearing species B) and the visual comparison to some other good greens, too.

I first came across Penman Emerald Green a few years ago and bought many cartridges. When I wrote with my first cartridge, I knew that I had found the green of my dreams.

I have a couple of bottles that I am guarding. I upped the insurance for my new apartment by another $10,000 because of this ink :P :roflmho: :ltcapd:

Oh and Grasshopper, if you come and visit me, I`ll give you a bottle. :)

Thanks for the review :)

Emerald is definitely the most dignified green.

Someone on PT long time ago wrote, that the Emerald is so dignified that you can write a condolences letter with it and noone will raise an eyebrow .....

PS> I am down to 2-3 last cartridges of Emerald (I hope to replenish my supplies somehow).

I will echo Andy, Always Greener is a really charming color. A true fresh spring green color, a good amount of yellow but with some richness. One of my favorite bright ink colors. (The other is probably Noodler's Navajo Turquoise. I like Pinkly as well.)

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!
