I Have the Fellowship Prototype Pens!

...Also, Danitrio told Pen World International magazine about our little project and they were quite intrigue about how we got this project going, so I spoke with editor over the phone and forwarded any requested informations. I gave most of the credits to all the members here and to Danitrio willing to take on our crazy ideas. I am not sure what will come of it from the info provided, but at least the broader pen community is taking notice. Maybe other pen companies would follow suit. It will also be nice to get FPN out there. Anyways, I thought some of you might be interested to know.

This is a very interesting project. It does not obey to any profession nor obscure societies... just a wreid group of "nice" people in love with the work that Danitrio does... a group desire which will turn real in a short time. The magic of spontaneity (?) ... that's the important thing here. Sure it may be the desire of other penmakers to follow it, but the seed is not so easy to find. Here it found a nice earth to grow and to grow sound and strong...

Thanks Kevin and all the group that make it to be a real thing! (here is the difference!)

Good gravy, and a philosopher to boot!!!

Do you use GRAVY SAUCE also on ice cream? :ltcapd:

Thanks for the update, Kevin! I hope Pen World enjoys learning about the how much fun the Fellowship has had and what wonderful pens we're sharing with each other. It's always fun to have enthusiasm for shared interests.

I can hardly wait for our pens. As each day passes, I get more anxious. I suppose it doesn't help I'm waiting on three other custom pens, either. I'm just itching to get my hands on all of them.

We're pretty lucky to have had the choices and design decisions we had as a group, and for Danitrio to be as enthusiastic about the project as all of us. It really came about quite unexpectedly, but it was quite a welcome offer from Danitrio to create a Fellowship pen for us. We're getting a fabulous group deal!

Hi Guys,

For those folks who are considering clips, please note that Danitrio has confirmed that they can put a gold plated clip or a rhodium plated clip. Please email me your preferences. Other folks have asked bout other "customization", but for this pen, I have to limit choices, as I really want this pen to be a "group" pen, not a "custom" pen. If you are interested in "one off" custom pen, I can help you with this, just email me. Thanks.

Kevin, I'll email my preference to you (Rhodium), but do you know if the clip will be one of the cast clips, or the older 'bent metal' clips (obviously, I'm hoping for the former).

And didn't they come out with a new clip design a few months ago?

I think coverage by Pen World International is an unexpected plus to this whole project. Remember that photos are to be taken of the pen as it evolves in the maki-e master's hands, and those photos would make a noteworthy layout for a magazine article. I do not usually buy PWI, but I sure as heck would buy that issue!

Frankly, I like the idea of minimal customizations. I agree that it is a group enterprise. Yet, I feel the clip is a worthy exception for those who want one. I do not, but I understand the need.

Oh, yes. The excitement builds! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

I do as well, Frank.

14 years ago, I won the very first production Sheaffer Legacy in a contest that Pen World conducted. It was one of the highlights of my pen collecting experience

I still have the pen (and a couple of the issues that featured it), and am looking forward to another pen that shares that level of excitement.

I agree, this project never would have happened without the special relationships Kevin has with the Danitrio people and with his customers. At the risk of stating the obvious, I want to say his way of treating everyone right and his willingness to go the extra mile inspire a lot of loyalty among us Danitrio owners (Fellowship members) and a lot of appreciation in the company. He's the linchpin between company and Fellowship that makes this all come together. THANKS, KEVIN!

Thanks for all the kind words, but I am simply a conduit to help make this happen. You gave me too much credit. I know my limitations. I am certainly not creative enough to come up with the idea initially. This is truly a group effort and only possible when we can all "meet' here.

Let's not forget the artist, Kosetsu san. I have received a few thank you cards written by some of you and I will be forward them to Danitrio to be translated. I will send them in batches, so not to bomard them with mails. This is strickly voluntary and you can certainly wait until you have the pens if you are inclined to do so. As mentioned before, part of the proceed from the sale of this pen will be put to good use to invite the artist (and his wife, both do maki-e work for Danitrio) to next years LA pen show. I know he is very Jazzed up to have the chance to meet some of you in person. As time gets closer, I will post a bit of bio about him and his wife.

I'm waiting for my pen, so I can literally show how I am enjoying the pen.

Thanks for all this, Kevin. We don't give you enough credit. Honestly, no one else would have done all this for us or put up with being the go between on such a personal level as you have.

No, no! Don't do that! The longer Kevin stays on vacation the more I have a reason to be patient and not hang off the ceiling waiting. You should see the holes I have scraped in my study ceiling!
