What is the value of your collection?

Guess that I fit in with the Doug C and Diedre crowd and hit the 25-30K mark, but it is only a SWAG. For example, I paid 80% of SRP for my vermeil Agatha Christie, makes that around 600 USD. It is still NIB soooo if figure the dollar cost would be between 3-4K, sentimental value is beyond estimation, it is the first pen that my wife gave me for a Christmas present.

If I am fortunate enough to have "disposable income" such that if I see one that I have really yearned for I will usually buy it. NO doubt, I am blessed with a job that allows me to provide for my family and offers me the ability to partake in a socially acceptable indulgence. Could be worse, could be hooked on porn or crack.

A. Don's Axiom "It's gonna be used when I sell it, might as well be used when I buy it."

I know exactly what I've paid for my small collection, it's in a spreadsheet that is constantly updated. Now what I've paid and what they are valued at like others are two different things. I've purchased almost every pen in my collection below what I had envisioned and below what most stores are selling them for, virtue of patience I suppose.

Currently Collection tallies in around $1300, replacement value, I haven't figured out, but I know it's higher.

In terms of the list of items I'd run into a burning house for, which of course starts with my wife and children, pens are near the bottom. But it's a very short list.

Priceless. These pens have written letters of comfort, mended difficult situations, drawn things of beauty. They have spilled their ink to bring beauty and inspiration to others for many years.

You could give me new pens, with high-dollar market values, but it wouldn't make them worth any more to me than the ones I have.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!
