At the earliest opportunity, I would like to know the projected cost, as my pen budget is sometimes held hostage to SWMBO, and a very large expenditure could possibly be completely nixed.

Same here (more due to the fact that I have expended my funds for the next 12 years in 2008), but I know you will do this as soon as possible, Kevin. Sounds like you're already making great progress on the prototype.

The boss of Danitrio has selected the following Basho's Haiku. This is the last Haiku of Oku no Hosomichi (The narrow road to the deep north). This is about Basho arrived at Oogaki and was welcomed and surrounded by friends, but as fall comes along, he felt the difficulty saying farewell to his friends... like trying to seperate the clam from its shells.

 

Basho likes to play with words and often the words has underline meaning or double meanings, so translation into any language is a difficult one trying to capture the essence of the haiku. I offer a few translation I like for your reading pleasure...

 

Hamaguri no

Futami ni Wakare

Yuku Aki zo

I pulled out my book. The Narrow Road to Oku (trans by Donald Keene, Illustrated by Miyata Masayuki) http://www.amazon.com/Narrow-Road-Illustra...s/dp/4770020287 and here is the translation he used this time

Autumn is passing by."

 

The book includes Japanese script and English and has lots of explanation along with the poems and prints.

 

It will be so interesting to see what the artists come up with.
