  1. Situation – I manage a large company and my day is in meetings and email. In the meetings I take notes in bullet journal / note taking style. I use an A4 lined notebook and a Lamy 2k for note taking, I love it! At the end of the day I close out my day writing my bullets into emails so I can track them in outlook as actions for myself or others. I have even scanned in my 2015, 2016 and 2017 journals to PDF and dumped them (I like the minimal lifestyle). Complication – Scanning in my journals takes time, and I have only done this at the end of the year when closing out a journal and opening a new one. If my pages were loose leaf then I could scan them in easily, in fact I could even have templates that I can fill out depending on the type of meeting. I could close out days or weeks and have my notes in digital, maybe make them searchable or at least tag topics, any handouts can be included into the scan. This would be easy then to review in a PDF reader for referencing past meetings etc. without leafing through my paper journal looking for the meeting. Resolution – But what to do? A5 vs A4 Templates, IPad holder + Notepad / Clip board or something to carry paper and notes not yet scanned / processed. Best application for reading the PDFs, OCR on the journal notes? Product to carry it all including the iPad……. As I figure it out for myself I shall update you all, but if someone has tried something similar please tell me below. If this post is in the wrong place please also let me know. Thanks! And Have a happy productive day!
  2. I'm going to put this out there (my apologies in advance): I'm a millennial who uses fountain pens. Not a bad thing, of course, except everyone who is over 40 at work wonders why I use them, since I'm "young". Anyway, I am also heavily into technology (as one does at my age - for the most part). Has anyone (no matter what your age) experimented with using fountain pens and technology? For example, I have an app called Notability on my iPad. If I'm taking notes in a meeting, I use my trusty Pilot Metropolitan. Then I scan and upload the paper into the app. It is a lot of work, but I really love technology and FPs so I want to use both. Also, you never know if your notes end up in the recycle bin Has anyone done this? Or am I completely out of my mind? (Don't answer that - please, please don't answer that. It's rhetorical.)
  3. I've been using a FP in meetings recently (and no, no one ever comments) but I have only seen one other person using a FP (Parker 25 in his case)? Given there is no waste with a FP and often these meetings are with third sector organisations with environmental awareness built into them I'm a bit surprised. What are other people's experience?
  4. Hi all, Backstory: I've recently changed job location and gave away the pens I had to my colleagues. Now I need another pen at my new location and thought it a good idea to try a fountain pen in the lab. But which one?!? Needs: - The pen really needs to have an extra fine nib and be able to take some pressure. - Preferably by a C/C filler.... never thought that I'd say that, but the contained environment that I work in means that things go into the lab... and not out. A cart filling pen is just going to make things a whole lot easier. - The pen needs to be cheap too, no higher than £20, what's that... $25 or so. I'm normally careful with my pens but damage to the nib and barrel is quite possible and my budget is shockingly low at the moment. - A demonstrator would be good, or any other barrel colour that would show up contamination... Any brands that would meet these needs? The obvious choice would be for a Lamy Vista, but I'm open to suggestions! Thanks for the help, Badger
  5. I'm considering getting a Noodler's Konrad as well as a 1.1 stub black Monteverde #6 nib. Have you tried to put a Montverde nib on a Noodler's Konrad? Does it work very well? Does it sit far down into the section like the Goulet nib? thanks.
  6. I was reading the "What Pens Are You Using At Work This Week" thread and noticed that many members do not use waterproof ink at work. This puzzles me, as I make it a point to only use fully waterproof ink at work like Noodler's 54th, Noodler's Black, and Sailor Nano-black. I once spilled a cup of coffee on an assignment written in completely non-waterproof ink (Diamines, Iroshizukus, etc) and vowed never to make the same mistake. I'm curious to know whether you primarily use waterproof ink at work. Please only consider your main ink (even if you rotate, think about the ones you usually rotate between). For instance, I primarily use 54th Mass but keep pens filled with Diamine Oxblood and Sailor Apricot for highlighting purposes. I would mark "Fully Waterproof ink" on the first question and "Yes" on the second. Oh, and please feel free to write a bit about why you use the inks you use at work! (I honestly never thought I would use my social science training in survey design for a fountain pen related post...)
