My question is: Where does this pen fit in the Sheaffer realm of sub-brands? It's a Wasp Vacuum-Fil with an Addipoint screw-on nib. Is its run concurrent with that of the Addipoints? Or does it start before, during or after?

Hi! Perhaps a noob question, but I couldn't find anything in the forums that addresses this particular issue. I have a circa 1940 Sheaffer Balance Vacuum-Fil that works great, with one exception. Every time I unscrew the blind cap to pull out the plunger rod, the cap unscrews not just from the body of the pen, but also from the end of the rod. I'm afraid that if this happen repeatedly, the screw will be stripped. What is the best way to safely secure the cap without causing damage or doing something irreversible? I could just super-glue the thing, but that seems like a terrible idea. What is the best practices for this situation?

I purchased this for about $30. Thinking I had perhaps overpaid a bit for a black Vacuum-Fil Jr. When I got it cleaned up. Here's what I found: Nice little demonstrator pen! This is yet one more reason I love collecting these!

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions on a Vacuum-Fil that I'm working on. gmberg's post here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/200999-early-thick-rods-from-sheaffer/ has been very helpful, but my situation is a little different; in his post, the packing unit came out of the pen - in mine, it is still inside. So, here are my questions: 1) Would the best method for restoration be to drill out the packing unit, as I have in the Sheaffer Vac-fils that I have restored, or is there some other method I should try? 2) As this is one of the thick-rod pens, should I search for different o-rings to use in the packing unit, or will the o-ring be flexible enough for the larger rod? I am using the ones offered by David Nishimura. I am sure there are other questions I should ask - I'll add them as I go. Here are some pictures to (hopefully) add some clarity: The pen, disassembled. Closeup of the packing unit
