rollerball Pilot V-Ball Vs Uni-ball Eye
Asteris posted a topic in It Writes, But It Is Not A Fountain Pen ....
When not using my Fp, my choice of writing on good paper has always been the Pilot V-Ball 0.5mm Blue . Yesterday I was in a stationery store and I picked up the Uni-Ball Eye Fine Blue, since i wanted to try it out and compare to the pilot's single use rollerball. I do not have any good photos, so I will explain the best way I can. ■External factors: ● Uni-ball Eye is thicker than the Pilot V-Ball and looks like it hold more ink ● Eye has softer plastic on the cap and tail than the V-Ball. ● Eye's clip, although is a little more dificult to use, secures the pen better than the V-Ball's clip. ■Internal factors: ● Eye's grip is a little bit larger than the V-Ball's ■Ink and writing ● V-Ball's ink is dark. Navy dark almost like blue-black. On the othe hand Eye has a lighter shade of blue, almost azure. ● V-Ball's line is as thin as expected from a 0.5mm pen. Eye's line is a tad thicker, which in return make the a pen a little smoother. ● In the particular paper I used Eye feathers more than the V-Ball and bleeds more, although this might be because of the thicker line it lays down. ■Waterproofness ● The Uni-Ball, just as advertised, performed well in my water test and less ink was displaced than the V-Ball, which also held quite good (although worse than the Eye) Which one do you prefer? I will do more testing to see which one works better for me. -
Roller Pen Refill For Uni Ball Lover
tvradio posted a topic in It Writes, But It Is Not A Fountain Pen ....
Being unable to find an inexpensive pants-pocketable M nib fountain pen to my liking for EDC, I'm considering a roller pen. I know nothing at all about the brand and cartridge ink options, but my favorite gel inks are Uni Ball 307 (0.7) black and Uni Ball 207 (0.5) green-black and brown-black. I find that they are smooth, dry quickly enough for my lefty handwriting, and I want a thicker 0.7 line, possibly even going up to 1.0. My first thought for an inexpensive knock-around pocket roller pen is a Kaweco Sport. Should I consider anything else for the pants-pocket in that price range? I like the look of the Retro 1951, for example, but I'd prefer the protection from a pen with a cap. (Safaris are out because my lefthanded writing style doesn't get along with triangular grips.) And although I could try a roller ball eyedropper conversion I'm interested in learning about cartridges that can give me the same light touch, smoothness and dark thick line as the Uni Balls I'm used to. Ideas? -
Alternative Body For Uniball Signo 207 Refills?
Left Elvis posted a topic in It Writes, But It Is Not A Fountain Pen ....
So the Uniball Signo 207 Needlepoint is by far my favourite writer whenever I can't use my fountain pens, but I abhor the default bodies. I would prefer something a little more classy. Do ya'll have any experience with alternative ballpoint/rollerball bodies that fit the Signo 207 refills nicely and are aesthetically pleasing to boot? -
While I have read (on FPN) that the Waterman Expert RB takes the Uniball 207 Signo, its not clear if the Waterman Hemisphere also takes Uniball 207 signo refills or the jetstream refills? (I am also given to understand that both Expert and Hemisphere take the Piot G2) If anyone has experience with Hemisphere RB and Uniball refills, may please comment. Thank you.

Copper Ti2 Techliner - Love It
Chiro75 posted a topic in It Writes, But It Is Not A Fountain Pen ....
Just picked up a Ti2 Design Techliner and I LOVE it. Denied myself for YEARS and just happened to check the website out and saw that the short, beadblasted copper version is only $55 without clip, so I went for it. LOVE it. The magnet cap sticks on like a mofo. Can't see it coming loose in normal circumstances. The beadblast finish has a lot of variation, like maybe some machining oil gets cooked into it, which I love the look of. The UniBall (assuming) 207 refill is AMAZING. The copper has nice weight, super nice balance. Love it love it love it.-
