I do a fair amount of travel and one of my packing preps is deciding which pens to bring. I base it on the business attire required, the travel-worthiness of the pen, and whim. While almost certianly one or two pens would be enough for my writing needs, I often fill my pen roll just for fun. Id love to hear what others are taking on journeys and compare notes. Ill start: This trip to New York City, I decided to have a theme: my Italian pens. All relatively new (a few just received this week), they are (from left to right) Marlen Alef, Visconti Ragtime, Montegrappa Parola, Visconti Van Gogh and Delta Graffiti. I pretty much left the Marlen and Ragtime in the hotel, used just for journaling. Each handled the plane pressure issue perfectly, with no mess at all. The Ragtime and Graffiti have cartridges in them, the others bottled ink. I like at least one cartridge loaded pen with me for easy refills.

I've searched the forums and can find all sorts of posts about either (a.) using the Visconti Traveling Inkpot; or (b.) flying with ink, but not one that answers this: Does the pot need to be filled to the "max" line before flying (similar to pens)? Or can it safely fly with a lower ink level? And...does the answer vary, depending whether or not it's carryon vs. checked luggage? Seems like a silly question, I know. Just want to avoid "sharing" Diamine Oxblood with the inkpot's surroundings.
