  1. I'm trying to find an upgrade from my pilot mr. I had a chance to try out a friend's pen, a pelikan m200 with tear-drop nib, which has a 9mm grip(according to goulet.com).from the first page of writing I suffered hand cramps. Same fate with a faber-castell grip model, which has an even bigger grip section. In my search for a prn with small grip section I found only one. Any suggestions?
  2. Hi all, I'm debating about either getting a new pen from The Nibsmith, or having one of my existing pens worked on by him. Which would you suggest? Thanks, Rosendust💜🍃

    Visconti In Canada

Anybody know of a place to buy Visconti pens in Canada? I'm in the market for one and I am starting to do research on on the models and pricing. Amazon.ca is pretty pricy (I know Visconti is pricy but Amazon doesn't have any good deals for this brand) Thanks friends!
  4. I've been collecting fountain pens for a while, a small hobby that my friend had noticed. All of my fountain pens are in the thinnest side of fineness, ranging from Pilot's EF, Platinum's UEF, to Sailor's Saibi Togi. He's asking me if I could find a moderately priced fountain pen with at least a 1 mm nib. He made certain that it should be a fountain pen and not a calligraphic pen such as Pilot parallel, Lamy Joy, and Rotring Artpen. He had tried a Pilot Metropolitan with Broad nib, and he wants it to be that smooth. I've been looking at TWSBI for some time, with the 1.1 and 1.5 mm stub nib. I also noticed the more than usual comments of the pen acting up. I have no issues with that, since I know my way around fountain pen tinkering and adjustment, but I doubt he would like it if his pen is acting up. Also, Kaweco is out of question for the shape and Nemosine is 0.2 mm thinner than requested. So I hope this community could help me with finding the best fountain pen with a really broad nib priced under 80 USD that's just as fine as japanese fountain pens. Or at least tell if there's none in the market.
  5. I've been trying to find a good, buttery, smooth, metal and especially long lasting oblique calligraphic pen, preferably one with a converter and classic design. I'm so into pilot metro but the nib is the normal one, the mundane one, and i hate the mundane one. I've been thinking about lamy joy but the design is very ugly for me. (Please note that, for me, i'm not trying to be offensive) the other way out is to customise the nib but $70 pen is too much for everyday writing. By any chance, do you know the way out? I want a pilot metro with oblique nib (but if that's impossible, at least the italics or stub) or else, another pen with buttery and smooth oblique nib that won't make my wallet looks like it has been doing a strict diet. I've seen sheaffer calligraphy set but it doesn't seem to be convincing. I've head manuscript's too but they said it's horrid. Maybe an interchangeable oblique nib that fits pilot's? Ps. I actually wanted to do a simple scaled calligraphy with a fountain pen.
  6. Hey there, I just bought a Lamy Safari for everyday use in school and all of that fun stuff. However, I really want to learn more styles such as Copperplate and Spencerian. From what I've heard: I need a pen with a flex nib. My question to you all: 1. Which pen do you recommend that has a good nib with good flexibility for Copperplate? Dip pen or fountain pen? Please be specific I am a student, so I have given my self a budget of 100$. Thanks In Advance, mountainrider
  7. Hi. I am looking for a good cheapish pen to go with my new sexy leather notebook cover. I have a midori pen clip medium so it has to fit that. I also want a screw cap so it doesn't fall of in my bag. I have been looking at the TWSBI mini so no more expensive than that. Please help me with more suggestions. Nehm

    New To Vintage Pelikan 400

Hi everyone ! Recently, I've got a nice 500 from a antique shop. But when I tried to knock the piston unit,I've ruined the barrel. Now I will buy a 400nn brown tortoise parts to replace my 500. Now I have two solutions here 1. Knock the 400nn piston unit out and replace with the 500 piston knob (is it compatible?) 2. Just change the cap and become a 500nn Any another better methods? Thanks
  9. Hello, I am going to buy a new fountain pen, and I would like to hear your suggestions. My budget is 100-130 dollars. Right now the two pens I have in mind are the Pelikan m200, or the Parker Sonnet. Please feel free to give me any suggestions or ideas on which pens I should buy. Thanks!
  10. Hi, I am looking for the best pen for signing documents. It should show better my signature. According to articles and advice that I read; ''Signature nibs should be Broad or BB, because a signature should never look tentative or weak - a signature should have visual impact, and convey strength and presence.'' (by yachtsilverswan) So I think EF, F (maybe M) aren't suitable for me? In my opinion the best way try them at pen shop, but I want to learn that which issues (nib, oblique, stub etc.) should I focus? What do you think about this? I am looking for a pen for beautiful signature. I have got a no idea about pens, nib, stub, ink etc. I want a pen for usually signing maybe sometimes take notes or writing. but my priority is signing. So what is the best pen (roller, ball-point, fountain) for you? Of course nib size, stub, oblique or straight etc. What are your suggestions? Thank you very much
