A spring for what is likely a ballpoint -- looking for identification
MYU posted a topic in Repair Q&A
Sorry, I know the Repair Q&A is mostly meant for fountain pens. I know this is a long shot, but I have a very unusual spring that I found in my "bag o' springs" that I keep around, containing springs harvested from junk pens that are getting thrown away. I have occasionally come across a ballpoint with a missing spring, the wrong spring installed, so the springs baggie is very helpful to me. Among them, I found a lone "5 banded" spring in a cellophane sleeve. It's a beautiful looking spring made of nice quality springy steel alloy. I'm pretty sure it's over 20 years old, and I haven't a clue as to where it came from. I don't know if it came as a spare for a pen I had once, or... a plausible chance... that it isn't from a pen at all. It might be for something else entirely. The oddity here is those 5 bands of compressed spring. I've never seen one installed in a pen before... so maybe it's some other purpose entirely. However, the inner diameter makes it very compatible with a lot of pen refills. Length is 32 mm, and diameter is about 3 mm. If you've seen one of these before and you know what it's used for... I'd be so grateful to hear about it. Thanks very much! -
The specific pen refill I'm using is the P900 Schmidt, which is measured at 3 7/8". I'm going to need to buy at least 100 of these springs at once. Any advice or direction as to where to buy such springs would be splendid!
