How do you store your pen spare parts, extra nibs, ink converters and cartridges, etc.?
A Smug Dill posted a topic in Paper and Pen Paraphernalia
How do you store your pen spare parts, ink converters, etc.? My wife finally managed to get me to clean up some of my mess, ahead of friends visiting (which is quite rare for us). I have boxes of pen spare parts, standalone or replacement nibs and nib units, dip pen handles and nibs, ink cartridges and converters, tools (such as tiny wrenches) for pen maintenance, water brush pens, a stamping kit to produce an outline image on swatch cards, makeup applicators for swabbing ink, display stands for (photographing) swatch cards, surplus Chinese pens, dedicated cheap pens for holding certain iron-gall inks and pigment inks so that they're always on the ready, etc. All of which, until recently, used to sit in a precarious pile (or ‘tower’) on one of the unused dining chairs, and it's hard to either move them or hide them away from sight all at once. Just as well that I also have a hoard of ‘spare’ storage boxes, document trays, etc. This one proved suitable beyond my expectations, even though of course it couldn't hold all of that type of bits and bobs; I still have dozens of new Sailor, Platinum, and Pilot converters, as well as retail boxes of ink cartridges and new surplus (not just Chinese, but also Japanese and European) fountain pens filling up mini-crates and crammed into a huge drawer elsewhere. Take a guess how much stuff it holds for me! This is not nearly the “all laid out” view, when there are stacks and layers inside the smaller boxes themselves: All of the plastic boxes shown were bought in Daiso, with the exception of this one:- 5 replies

Vintage Montblanc 221 Piston And End Knob Compatibility With Montblanc 22
Methanius posted a topic in Montblanc
Hi Montblanc enthusiasts, I'm not much of a Montblanc expert nor do I own any of their modern pens. What I do have is a vintage Montblanc 22 with a broken piston mechanism. The rod in the end cap is broken and stuck inside the piston, which is itself also broken. Thus, the only way to use the pen would be to jam the piston in and use the pen as an eyedropper. However, I've met a person who has spare parts left from a vintage piston filling Montblanc 221. It looks like the parts might fit in my pen in place of the broken parts, but I wanted to ask you guys if anyone knows whether the parts would fit or not beforehand. Thanks for any help! -
Hello, I have a Duofold Senior in red permanite, double banded, that has a cap lip that is so severely cracked that it's lost four, soon to be five, chunks from its lip, just below the first band. I keep on regluing them, but it's ugly and not at all permanent. I sought some professional help to get the chunks and cracks sealed, but was told that the costs far outweigh the pen value, and the best course for me is to get a new cap. I'd like to avoid buying a whole other Duofold just to get at its cap. If anybody has a spare cap for a red senior in permanite they would be willing to sell me, or direct me towards a group or individual that could do that, I would be eternally grateful! After saving up for two years to get my dream pen, this whole experience is quite heartbreaking! Thank you, jcreilley Here's some pics of the cap so you can see the horror for yourself.

Hi Folks, I posted a version o this topic in the Parker Forum (here) that didn't get much feedback, so I thought I would try here as well. I'm working to restore a 1948 vac major and I need a new feed and nib. After bouncing around a few threads here on FPN, I've begun worrying about the interchangeability of Parker feeds (several posters note that the feeds they have on hand don't fit; some wonder about celluloid shrinkage being the culprit, others about machining tolerances). So I thought I would ask for input: On Balance, would any 3rd generation Vac Major feed fit? Or, indeed, would the feed from a second or first generation vac standard fit (barring of course the 'W' feeds) fit a third generation Major? I was also wondering about nibs for my project pen: what nib (model and date stamp) would be consistent with a barrel 1st quarter 1948 barrel? Thanks for your help and suggestions!

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if Graf von Faber Castell stopped selling spare parts online or if I am just not able to find the spare parts section on their website. I would appreciate any help or info. Thank you
