A while back, I reviewed Sheaffer Skrip Red in cartridge form. It was a lovely, dark cranberry red color that I immediately fell in love with. Some people commented that is looked much darker than their bottle Red and I said I'd order a bottle and see if I found a difference Sorry it's taken so long to get to it, been busy at work. I was also waiting to use up the cart and, then, without thinking, I just rinsed and refilled the cart with the bottle ink - d'oh! So, no side-by-side. The bottle ink is, indeed, bright red, quite different compared to the cartridge color. This is undoubtedly the color people think of when they see the words "Skrip Red". On good paper (BnR), it looks good - bright color, nice defined line, no show- or bleed-, doesn't look quite as 'flat' when it dries and the cart does; unfortunately, the is very little shading, unlike the cart. On cheap copy, however, it's not quite as well-behaved - while the color is good, show- and bleed- is on a par with Skrip Turquoise (bad) and the line is definitely thicker, though I wouldn't call it feather-y per se. Of the two, the dark cranberry color of the cartridge is the definite winner for me and I'm hoping that the pack I got isn't just a one-off batch variation and that future cartridges will be the same color. But if you're looking for a nice, bright 'red' red, Skrip bottle Red is a good choice.

I did this little written look at Skrip Orange since there wasn't one up in the review list. Here's a photo of the 1st two (of 3) paragraphs: I had included a scan of the whole page but the scan is too red so I've left it out. This photo is much closer but still a little off in that the ink has just a little more yellow to it. The ink is on the watery side but dried fairly quickly on the BnR, looks a little flat once it dries. Noticeable show-through on cheap memo. Some shading, as you can see. With all the nice oranges out there, there's no particular reason to pick this one, unless you have a Sheaffer cartridge pen. I find it rather pleasant in its own way; it's a happy color and it actually looks better in person than the photo suggests.

Did this little written review since there wasn't one up in the list for this ink. Here is the scan (I tried to take photos but the ink came out too dark in all of them) This is small BnR spiral notebook using Jinhao Safari knock-off, fine nib. The ink is kind of watery, at least the Jinhao laid down a very wet line that took a while to dry; didn't try smearing it, just eye-balled it, it seemed to take much longer to dry than the orange did. Show- and some bleed-through on both the cheap memo and the thicker Strathmore Sketch. Doesn't look as 'flat' when it dries as the orange, it seems to hold a little depth. You can see a couple little hints at shading here and there, a slightly darker yellow - 'Pretty' and 'read' in 6th line, last paragraph - 'I', 'reviews' and r in 'there', l in 'list', i in 'is'. The color in the scan is pretty spot on. The color, well, this is a very bright yellow, like a lemon. Unless you're holding it under a bright light, you won't be able to read it; anything else, all you'll be able to distinguish is that there's writing on the paper. I find the color very interesting, but I'm not quite sure why. It's certainly bright. Other than mixing or highlighting, though, I can't really see what you'd use it for.
