  1. It is the first, expensive fountain pen I bought for my birthday in 2017. I have been using it almost daily since then. I have bought other pens after this, frankly speaking, by whims. Many turned out to be great and others, not so much. Here is the review of the Sheaffer 300. Design: The pen is made of metal barrel and cap with a plastic section. The blue colour of the pen gives it a very elegant look while the chrome trim complements it well in my opinion. It is a snap capped pen which closes very securely. The clip of the cap is quite springy and could be easily clipped to jeans' pocket. Due to its heavy weight, it may not be practical to carry it in shirt pocket, but I have not yet tried it because I use t-shirts without pocket for work. It can be posted (it has a snap-cap mechanism for posting too) but becomes very back heavy. People with large hands might not feel the imbalance but I do. Without posting, however, it is very balanced. The section, as commented by the Nibsmith, feels like it is made up of cheap plastic but for me it provides good grip. There is slight stepdown from barrel to section which doesn't feel bad. The nib has nice scroll work on it with the branding and indication of the nib size. It has a cartridge convertor filling system. The converter is very well made and fits snugly into the section. Performance: The nib is smooth and stiff and moderately wet. In my short experience, I tend to do like stiffer nibs more. The feed provides nice ink supply without any skipping while writing. The pen writes under its own weight which is how a fountain pen should be able to write I suppose. The cap provides good seal. I have kept the pen unused for a week when for a vacation and it wrote without any skips. I have so far used Waterman Mysterious blue, Noodlers black and Diamine Misty blue ink in it, all of which performed well. The one week gap was when it was filled with Noodlers. I think this can be a good candidate for a first fountain pen for people who plan to upgrade. It could also be a daily carry if one works on a desk and likes heavy pens. In similar price range, it is certainly better than the Lamy Safari which is awesome for carrying around but feels like writing with a plastic nib. May be I got a bad piece of Safari. I can't say about other pens in this price range because I do not have any. I also had tested a few of my pens for long writing sessions by writing two pages of a long notebook in one sitting. The Sheaffer 300 wrote very consistently while Safari dried out after 1.5 pages. The tests were done with Waterman Mysterious blue. Being a snap-capped pen, I do not know how durable the capping system is. May be people who have used the pen for long time can tell. I have been using this pen since one year and it is in very good condition. Images: The qoute, written with Waterman Mysterious blue Oh, the typo !!! * It really is ... Size comparion: Lamy 2000, Sheaffer 300, Platinum 3776.
  2. I have been researching and I cannot seem to find many reviews for the Sheaffer Sagaris, Prelude, or the Agio. Yes, I know, the Agio was discontinued a while back, but there are many people on Ebay that seem to have them NOS for around 30-40 dollars. They were supposedly super smooth writers according to some people. As for the Sagaris, not many people seem to talk about it much. Mainly what I want to ask is: How does the Sheaffer Sagaris compare with the Agio, Prelude, and the 300? I have heard the 300 tends to have a little more feedback than the others. The others I have not ever heard being compared before.
  3. Hey guys. I'm getting a new fountain pen all my experience was with Lamy Vista. I like it very much. Yet I'm looking for a smoother experience. As a student, I don't have much budget and sheaffer 300 is probably the most I can do here. I asked a friend of mine which is the largest fountain pen collector and he said Lamy safari's experience is a very expensive one, but he also suggested Sheaffer 300 and Parker vector. What do you think? Is sheaffer as good writer as Lamy Safari is?

Sheaffer 300 - Cap Clip Repair

Hello, I own a Sheaffer 300 (black body and cap). Recently, the clip has sprung loose away from the cap body. I'm not sure what caused this - but is there some way I can fix this by myself? Any sort of teardown/ disassembly details are greatly appreciated.
  5. Hi! So I've been looking to get my second fountain pen, first was a Lamy Vista, and I've been looking through FPN and some other sites on reviews, and have narrowed it down to the: Sheaffer 300 Sheaffer Sagaris I can't seem to find a good comparison between the 2, so was just wondering if anyone has experience with either could give some advice. Both cost about the same on cultpens. I'm open to other pen suggestions too, if any (£30, ~$50), with a fine/medium nib with a converter, and a slightly classier looking pen than the Vista for everyday use. I've looked around ebay for vintage pens too, and have a few Parker 51s and Sonnets in my watch list, although the condition of most of the pens leaves more to be desired. Thanks in advance!

    Sheaffer 300 (9316) : An Admiration

So I had a great start with a No-nonsense & a bad setback with Imperial 440 (it's up for tinkering this weekend). I was quite crestfallen when my anticipated 440 performed like a safety pin on paper. The guys at www.williampenn.net has decided to offer "seconds" at a heavily discounted price, so to motivate myself, I bought a sheaffer 300. Just received it, and whoa. This pen made me sit up and bore you with a review (for a pretty much entry level Sheaffer). So please skip if you don't want to read a overwhelmed noob(I'd say initiated) gushing over his new Sheaffer. You have been warned! Package: Comes in a rectangular box. Nothing too flashy, but "less is more". Definitely a keeper. First Impression: The pen looks really better in life than on pictures. When I picked it up in my hand, it seemed heavy. And I use a waterman harley on rotation ! This thing was definitely heavier than that. However, I popped open the cap, and the pen calmed down in my hands. I dont think it's supposed to be posted, becomes highly top-heavy. But to each, his own (I could show the white dot and the clip, but wanted to show off the gorgeous body first. Bear with me ) Nib: My No-nonsense is a fine, and I do NOT one anther sheaffer fighting for top honors with that. Hence I opted for a Medium. It'll fight for top honors with a waterman graduate, and my first love Schneider Base (closes eyes in a dreamy way, exhales, with a happy, stupid smile ). Ok, enough antics. (There, I showed off the white dot ) Inside the box: Apart from the pen? lets see, a manual , warrany card and two cartidges. Relax, the converter is inside the pen. I'll spare you the pictures this time. Digging deeper: So I wanted to dismantle the pen (not the feed), and see. I saw there are some scratches on the converter. It's a screw in converter that fits my No-nonsense. So much win there If I can't make the imperial 440 any better , at least I can salvage the converter (sigh ) forgive the angle, friends. Comparisons I lured my no-nonsense and 440 out and did a couple of comparison of sorts. Brian Goulet and Teri Morris (tips hat to both) have awesome websites as all of you know, and they do like to give out measurements. Writing I wanted to honor the pen's color by selecting pelikan 4001 Royal Blue Wait, is that a medium? Alas, I don't own a B. Closest I have is a Rotring Tanakor XL. A quick dip later, this is definitely skinnier than XL. How it writes? Let's just say the Schneider & Waterman got tough competition now. But we like that with our pens, Don't we? P.S. -> This pen didn't receive any marks, but if you ask me my top four pens, it'll be Schneider,Graduate,NN and this sweet baby in no particular order. P.P.S. -> that's a pretty long one. Let me know how bored you got.

    Parts For Sheaffer 300

I have a Sheaffer 300 with crome trim. It's have a nice nib, smooth writter but i'm not happy with crome cap and plastic material of section. I think cap's base material is copper or smtg similar, easily lose form if gets a impact on tip. Not a good choice for a everyday writter which some accidents unavoidable. Anyway could you suggest me a website to find spare parts for Sheaffer 300? Like cap and nib ? Regards Ahmet
