  1. I have three broken pens that I would love to give to someone or someones who have the skill, tools, and inclination to repair and to keep. If you can fix 'em or even salvage and use the parts, you can have 'em. I don't want to see these go to melt or resale or parts resale (I could do that!), but preferably to a collector who will restore and use them or even trade them on FPN. If you-all judge them beyond repair, then I'll reconsider. I just don't know enough to judge. First is a 1970's Montblanc, I don't know the model. I bought this new, broke the cap almost immediately, attempted a hamfisted repair (there is some glue residue on the surviving piece of the cap, which is in the photo and will be included with the pen), and gave up, a little brokenhearted. It's been in a drawer for 40+ years. The nib is in good shape, almost never used. I think it's a medium. It's moderately dirty, but the piston works and is smooth. https://www.amazon.com/photos/all/fpngallery/oub-KcOjSAq_pXmpYuB20Q Second is a Montblanc Mozart (cartridge only) with a pranged nib. The picture doesn't show the extent of the damage, but the tines are really bent. There is a slight blemish on the star on the cap. I don't know what the blemish is, and it didn't come off with light finger rubbing. The rest of the pen is in great shape. The threads are clean and smooth. I don't remember where I got this, or how and when I broke it, but I've had it a very long time. I probably bought it when the Mozart series first came out, but I am not sure. https://www.amazon.com/photos/all/fpngallery/HVDQvfdcRf6_gFsgo1h3Fg The last is a 1940's or earlier Schaeffer snorkel in burgundy. It was my wife's school pen. I broke the section very recently (*grrr*) when disassembling it to clean. The surviving piece is depicted and will be included with the pen. The nib is undamaged, but the pen is VERY dirty. She probably put it away inked decades ago. Having blown it once, I will not attempt further manipulation, but rather leave it in parts. https://www.amazon.com/photos/all/fpngallery/5dlpnTF0RBeYigg5KPi6uQ Here are all three together https://www.amazon.com/photos/all/fpngallery/z48Cx81AQvin2QYh2ZlA8w I'll leave this open for a couple of weeks and choose randomly, with preference to someone who wants all three. If you only want one or two, please don't hesitate to say so, however, because there might not be anyone who wants all three. For shipping, I request that you send me a prepaid shipping box so that all I have to do is bubble-wrap them and send them off.
  2. Good morning from Ottawa! I have lurked on the site for quite awhile now and have even posted a couple of times, I decided it was high time I introduced myself in a more formal manner. I am a researcher in photonics/optics and originally was draw to fountain pens for the access to bottled ink as I was using preloaded ballpoints/gel pens at an alarming rate. I picked up a Lamy Safari demonstrator as a test and a bottle of blue waterman ink and then I suppose like most of us on here the bug bit and I have not really stopped. While I started with Lamy I quickly branched out and have not really settled on one brand, my only real trend is towards fine nibs as I use them extensively for equations and derivations. While I "collect" pens I do not see myself as a collector per say as all of my pens are in the regular inking rotation and I try to make a point of using everything I have and only buying something I want to use. With this being said in addition to one of my Safaris my Faber-Castell Mondoro, Mont Blanc UNICEF Le Grand, Kaweco Sport and Esterbrook do seem to be inked more often than others. In the interest of completeness below you will find my current collection of pens/inks. I look forward to being part of the community and seeing what everyone has to say. Happy to be here! 2 - Colibri fountain pens 4 - Montblanc 3 - Not Sure 5 - Parker 1 - Pierre Cardin 5 - Schaeffer (including 1 pen and pencil set) and 11 - Waterman Pens Hope to post pictures soon!

    Another Vintage Schaeffer Question

A number of years ago, I found an old fountain pen in an abandoned house. It had no cap and the bladder has completely disintegrated. Just yesterday, I cleaned out the pen and decided to try using it as a dip pen. To my amazement, it worked! Even though it's a little scratchy, I love how it writes. I posted a picture of it to the Pen Fetish group on Ravelry and it was suggested I post some pictures here to see if anyone can help identify this pen. I think I know what it is but it would be nice to have some confirmation. The pen IS a Schaeffer Lifetime, that much I've been able to figure out; as well, it says "made in Canada" and has Canadian patent information engraved into it. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out how to post pictures here. Here are links to the three pictures I've taken: http://www.flickr.com/photos/evskae/9701378275/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/evskae/9704612840/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/evskae/9704613566/ Any help, including help on posting pictures, would be appreciated. Also, is this a pen that is worth restoring? Or should I just keep using it as a dip pen? If interested, I've also posted a blog post about the pen; you can find it here.
