About two and half years ago I bought an ink sack for a repair that I eventually didn’t make. When I intended to use it yesterday I opened the plastic bag and found it almost sticking to the polyethylene bag it had come with. As it looked rather rigid, I tried to pull it and it yielded like a piece of chewing gum. I have known these sacks not to last long, but their shortness of life came as a great surprise to me, as I was planning to keep a couple of sacks in store for resacking my vintage fountain pens. I wonder if their life is any longer in always filled fountain pen. My bike’s tubes have worked without replacements for no less than a decade and I also keep a spare tube ready for years without any problem. Are there any more durable sack# out there? My Parker 51 still fills after half a century of use.

Nib And Feed Parts For Restoration
gwendolyna posted a topic in Mabie Todd Research/Special Interest Forum/Group
Dear community, I recently purchased a Mabie Todd L205/47 which I want to restore. The original nib and feed, which I believe would have been a Swan #2, has been replaced with a #1. These are, of course, too small for the section, so the nib does not sit snugly in the section. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to find a replacement nib and feed? The sac I'll need shouldn't be as tricky to locate, but tips are always welcome! Many thanks in advance, Gwen -
Does anyone have those new replacement sacs? Is it similar as those on the Hero 616/338/007 replacement sacs? For those who are interested there are 2 sizes; larger ones for the Hero 100/616 doctor and the smaller ones for the 616 normal/007/338: https://world.taobao.com/item/36251733375.htm BE WARNED it is in Mandarin so probably google translate? Many Thanks

I searched the forum and found the last reported order received from pensacs.com was November 2014. So I decided to start a new thread to ask about this. I sent in an order through email and paid by paypal about two weeks ago to pensacs.com. However, I still haven't received anything or got any communications. I tried to call and email but still no response. Does anyone have any recent experience with them? Are they still selling sacs? Thanks!

Hi, what ingredients are involved in sac manufacture please? My interest stems from wishing to determine whether there would be any accidental synergistic reactions that may occur if a specific additive were added to an ink used in it. Any known ingredients/product knowledge would be most helpful please including things like powders (talc?) or any synthetic or natural products used in manufacture or installation (shellac?). Yes, I understand the risks of contemplating such an experiment (potential dead pen). Experiments in less valuable pens are underway (search for "glitterati" in the ink forums) but haven't yet extended to sacced pens. With grateful thanks.

Sac Filling Systems Vs. Filling Systems Without Sacs
ChickenScratch posted a topic in Fountain & Dip Pens - First Stop
Since I started using and shopping for FP's last year, I've been staying away from pens with sac filling systems because they are made of a soft (probably easily damaged) material and I suspect they might prove to be higher maintenance and more likely to be in need of professional repair than pens that don't use sacs. Is there any truth in my impression? How long does a sac last before it should be replaced? Is it pretty easy to learn to do yourself? Is there an advantage to sac systems vs. non-sac systems? Are some sac systems more durable than others?
