Rotring 600 Fountain Pen, Silver With Black Trim?
stuck-in-time posted a topic in Other Brands - Europe
Just a couple of days ago, I missed out on a very good deal. It's a fountain pen version of the Rotring 600, that in itself is something to look out for, but this one seems particularly interesting. The pictures aren't really clear, and the lighting could be much better, but this seems to be a silver version with black trim? A silver barrel with black ends and section. Something I've never seen before. Upon closer inspection, the Rotring logo is colored black as well, and it's missing it's characteristic red ring? My best guess is that it's a very worn down black one, or perhaps intentionally polished to remove the black paint? But maybe there is such color combination out there? Does anyone know? http://rabingosal.com/archive/Rotring_600_black_trim.jpg Whichever it is, misssing out on a $15 Rotring 600 fountain pen is still makes for a sad day...- 4 replies

Hi everyone, First post here. I am Alexandre from France. I don't have a clue about pens in general, even less fountain pens. About 10-12 Years ago during my initial graphic design studies, I was using this fountain tip pen alot, since then it has just been in a random box with other stuff. I guess I hanged on to it because it looked kind of industrial. I think my dad got it for me originally. Pictures are included, I have done a few searches and there seems to be an interest in these sort of pens. Could anyone enlighten, model and so on ? is it worthless or some value ?. No Box or accessories (Might of lost them, can't really recall). Thank you in advance for any information you guys could give me. (Edit : just read the forums a bit more maybe I posted this in the wrong section and should of been in the regional forums maybe ?)

I've had a Rotring 600 for ages but never used it as I like pens posted and hated the annoying cap wobble when writing. Finally occurred to me to use one of the small, extra O-rings included with my TWSBI Vac 700 to slide over the end post and this has all but eliminated the "problem". No play or rattle at all while writing now and the small ring is practically invisible on the end. There is still some minor movement of the cap if you really jostle the pen but for normal use it greatly dampens the movement. TWSBI doesn't list these O-rings on their site but I'm sure any similar ring would work just as well. Possibly I am the last person to figure this obvious solution out but posting it anyway in case I'm not.

Howdy Pilgrims, So I've been searching for an EDC case/pouch - ah that old gem BUT My system involves carrying something like my Visconti HS Bronze (sometimes something else, but not often) and a Rotring 600 mechanical pencil. My issue is, that any pouch I've found falls short in either one of two criteria: - quick access - securely housing both a fat fountain pen and a thin mechanical pencil (without rubbing) My current system is this (oh yeah, livin' the dream)... The zipper means slow access and the bit of cardboard falls out all the time, but at least keeps my two pals from bashing each other up :/ And yes...that's a bit of tubing from a breast pump machine that came home from the hospital with our baby...it stops the point of the pencil being crushed in the zipper... Can anyone say dodgy? Can anyone offer a suggestion for my needs?

Hi, I am new here in thins forum, my name is david, I am an art teacher, I studied product design, so ROTRING pens are my tool of coice. found a vintage (I think its vintage) set of a Rotring 600 Set, please see pictures. I payed 50 euros for the set, my question is: was it ok to pay that amount? or is that just the japanese and cheeper version of the "old" 600 series? If you can help me to identify the set would be great, should I use it for daily use, or is that set someting to collect? kind regards david

I recently stumbled upon an ebay auction and subsequently the redesigned Rotring website (looks very nice / modern) which looks as though the flagship Rotring models have been and are being reintroduced and made in Germany again. This seems like amazingly good news, so I wondered if anyone else had some news on this that they wouldn't mind sharing. I contacted the particular seller on ebay who confirmed that Rotring's stuff (namely the 600 mech pencil) is indeed being manufactured in Germany again and that Rotring is introducing new models over the next year. They didn't specify which models though. Sounds great to me! Edit: Just to clarify: I'm referring to the old style 600 with the full writing on the barrel (Rotring 600 / 0,5mm) and not the version with just 0.5 written on the barrel as seen on the Made in Japan versions of the past few years.
