Several magenta inks compared, written with Fine and Stub nibs
A Smug Dill posted a gallery image in FPN Image Albums
From the album: Shades of colour
Some fifteen months have elapsed between writing and scanning this sheet. While I haven't deliberately exposed the sheet to either sunlight or artificial lighting with a view to testing fade resistance, I haven't exactly taken any care to shield or hide the sheet from exposure either; at different times the sheet would have just been sitting in or on top of a pile of paper on my desk, or on a tray or in a box of stuff I put off sorting out. Of the inks on the sheet, it seems Lamy Vibrant Pink has faded the most, relatively speaking; it's particularly noticeable in the “Six.” left of the margin. The colours actually all look significantly lighter/brighter to my eye on the sheet than in the scanned image does on my monitor. I guess it's useful to have the tonal and colour reference patches in the image after all. All the writing was done with two pens only — one with a Fine nib, the other a Stub — and so obviously some of these inks are more apt to spread on the page and result in thicker lines being put down with the same pens and strokes.© A Smug Dill

Colour: Hot pink, or magenta — more so than Pelikan Edelstein Star Ruby, although when Tsutsuji is laid thickly/wetly on the page it can look similar Flow: Moderate Feathering: Not observed on Rhodia Dotpad 80g/m² paper, looking closely at the thinnest hatching lines, and words/glyphs ‘reverse-written’ with the nib upside-down (i.e. the bottom of the feed facing up) Show-through: Low to nil Bleed-through: Not observed Drying time: 13–15 seconds Smudging after fully dry: None, after I rubbed my thumb on the hatching/stippling and the Chinese hanzi panels on the review sheet (ten days after writing) Water resistance: Poor Shading: Very subtle; difficult to spot along a single pen stroke with no doubling over the ink mark and no intersecting tracks Sheen: A tiny amount of orangey gold sheen can be seen in writing, but you really have to look closely and under a bright light of the right type for it Shimmer: None My thoughts: If I want to write in this colour with sheen, I'll probably use Lamy Vibrant Pink ink instead.

My eyes! My eyes! OMG my eyes! It burns!!! Aggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!! If you like retina-searing orange inks, you'll love this ink. This ink is really bright, almost fluorescent. The handling was perfectly fine on the paper I used. I think Anderson Pens carries this brand in the US, which originates from Australia. This is not a color I would ever use, but if you have a need for a great markup ink, this one will fit the bill. I was so traumatized by this ink that I was only able to use one page for review and could not bring myself to do the rest of the review. I know I'm not worthy like Visvamitra. Pen: Edison Nouvelle Premiere (F-steel) Papers: MvL=Mohawk via Linen, TR=Tomoe River, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet. Do not be deceived by the image here. It's a really florescent orange, very pure in hue and bright. You have been warned!
